Shane Records
[edit]A tag has been placed on Shane Records, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. A1octopus 22:31, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Copyright violation
[edit]I got a message from you with regard to my deleting an article about Richard Felchlin. It was not my intention to vandalize Wikipedia. I am, however, trying to figure out how to deal with the fact that this article was copied from a website that I maintain without my permission (or the permission of the article's actual author, John Edward Powell). I followed the instructions for reporting such a situation found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyright_problems, but haven't heard back from anyone about it. I want the article removed from Wikipedia, but don't know exactly how to get that done.
Kennsrem 20:19, 12 July 2007 (UTC)Kevin Enns-Rempel
- Per an OTRS ticket and email from Kevin, the article has been fixed to remove the copyright violations. Izzy, for your information, it is actually ok for anyone to remove literal and easily identifyable copyright violation content from Wikipedia. Kevin could have tagged it a bit more clearly to explain why in his edit summary, but he did explain on the article talk page. Sometimes it may look like vandalism, but it's one of the cases which is an exception. Thanks. Georgewilliamherbert 22:12, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject Guitarists newsletter

The WikiProject Guitarists Newsletter | |
Hey everyone! It's been quite a while since the last newsletter went out but it's time to tune up those guitars, set the amps to 11, and rock out a bit. Or for us old guys, put on the fingerpicks and set the amp to 3. A lot of people have been laboring away at guitar articles and their efforts are to be applauded. If you haven't edited in a while, why not pick an article from Category:Stub-Class guitarist articles and expand it? Or better yet, pick one from the article requests and create it. More tasks can be found on the main project page in the WikiProject Guitarists open tasks box. I went through the member list and moved anyone who hasn't edited a guitar article in two months to the inactive section. If you're getting this newsletter, it means you are still in the active list. Wikimania in Atlanta!
[edit]Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!
P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 06:35, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:DickieVannRecord.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:23, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Lenny (guitar)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Lenny (guitar) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —BK4ME 02:26, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- You will have a hard time convincing wiki patrollers and admins that this article about his guitar is notable in its own right. Why not just add this at an appropriate spot in the Stevie Ray Vaughn article and avoid the problem? There's really no reason for this as a separate article. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:DickieVannRecord2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:DickieVannRecord2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:03, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Your RfA
[edit]I have posed more questions. Dlohcierekim 02:18, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Your request for adminship was unsuccessful
[edit]Good Morning Izzy, unfortunately, I closed your recent request for adminship per the generally accepted snowball clause for RFAs that are not likely to succeed. I personally believe you do have the potential to become a user who could be promoted to administratorship in the near future, especially in consideration of the clear dedication you put in. Try to ensure that you take all the criticism in the oppose section constructively, and most importantly, communicate with those that voiced their opinion in your RFA and by discussion you will eventually find a better ideal of what is needed in an administrative candidate and even try to look for improvements in yourself. I would also like to suggest that you seek an administrator coach who will eventually assist you in your development and give you general tips on the community on Wikipedia. Regards, Rudget. 21:00, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of D (record label)
[edit]A tag has been placed on D (record label) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. A tag has been placed on D Records, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}

Your RFA
[edit]I did not vote in your RFA but if I did, it would have been either neutral or weak oppose. There were too many issues identified by other editors, and too short a time since your previous attempt. Before attempting this again, I would strongly encourage you to read through the reasons people voted no. If they deal with things you can change, such as editing behavior, then take the advice to heart. If they deal with things that will change on their own, like edit count and time-in-service, then just wait those out. Before submitting yourself again, wait the longer of: 6 months after the objections raised no longer apply, or 12 months from now. If you wait more than 12 months, then people will be much less likely to think "oh no, not again." If your edits in the 6 months prior to your next go at it don't show you've taken this RFA's criticism to heart, you'll be quickly shot down and have to wait another year.
By the way, thank you for answering the two questions I asked.
I look forward to your becoming a great editor over the next year.
For what it's worth, I have over a year of service, over 5000 edits, and declined/deferred an offer to be nominated for admin on the grounds that 1) in the next few months I won't have a huge amount of time to take advantage of the extra tools, 2) there is a lot that I can do without the tools, lack of them is not a major impediment to my improving the project, and 3) later this year I will have a few months more experience and be a better admin than if I were granted adminship today.
Being a Wikipedia admin is like being an unpaid janitor. You get the keys to the building, but that's only so you can mop up the messes wherever they occur.

A Question
[edit]Hi, I few weeks ago I did a huge update to the Zomba page after some of my personal research seemed relevant there. Then I did a less-substantial edit of the related Jive Records page yesterday, which I accompanied with some sources. My edit was reverted today by a user whose talk page contains many references to similar situations, where edits were reverted without any reason. I am quite sure that my edits are correct, so I was just wondering if you have any suggestion for how I should proceed. I have been a registered user here for some time, but I have not been extremely until more recently, and I am not sure what kind of etiquette there is with these matters. I was just hoping a member of the records label task force might have some input. :) Thanks! Ibanez Guy (talk) 03:12, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted in Troy, Alabama
[edit]Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian in Alabama. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Troy University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
I know Alabama is a big state, but if you happen to live near Troy and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from Troy who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 16:07, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

The article Huelyn Duvall has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Musician does not appear to be referenced in third-party, independent sources as required by WP:GNG.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wikipedia policy allows us to link to legal streamed copies of albums. It would be useful to draw up a guideline on how and when to link to such albums; however, there is concern that it may not be appropriate as the music would not be available in all parts of the world. Is the benefit of having access to the music for most users outweighed by the fact that some users will follow a link to find the music is not playable in their region? Your view would be helpful at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. SilkTork ✔Tea time 02:22, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
