J.A. Vrugt Edits
[edit]Sphilbrick, thank for your suggestions on my 1st article, "Jasper A. Vrugt"! Your input has been very helpful to me.
I have addressed each item as follows:
- External links: I removed these or turned them into footnotes where appropriate.
- Research section: For the moment, I have removed the research section until I have time to rewrite it and then cite it
- The 60+ papers citiation... I am not able to link into the results as this is a password protected site. However, I was able to find similar results thru the Scholarometer site, so I added that as my citation.
- Footnote 4: I was not able to find the article online - so, I have added a citation to the article in print.
- I adjusted the footnote formatting error. The footnote notations now follow the punctuation.
Here is a link to the original suggestions you had made: Wikipedia:Requests_for_feedback/2010_December_7#Jasper_A._Vrugt I am getting acquainted with how things work within the Wikipedia community and figured I should try to move the comments on this article to my talk page. :)
If all the edits meet Wikipedia standards, does this mean that the article is ready to have the "unreviewed article" message removed?
Thanks again! Isolde2000 (talk) 18:37, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Nice work. I removed the "unreviewed" template. You still have an embedded link at Jan Hopmans, which would be better as a footnote.
- Thanks for the contribution.--SPhilbrickT 19:03, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Is DREAM a reference to DREAM (software)? Seems likely, or else quite a coincidence. If so, it would be good to wikilink it. I think you know how – replace DREAM with [[DREAM (software)|DREAM]].
- It may also be appropriate to add a See Also section in DREAM (software) to link to Jasper A. Vrugt, which would allow us to remove the orphan template. Let m know if you don't know how to do this.--SPhilbrickT 19:22, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Wonderful to see everything coming together! I have adjusted the Jan Hopmans external link and turned it into a footnote. As it turns out, the DREAM software that is already on Wikipedia IS a different "DREAM" than the one Vrugt worked on - even though both seem to have ties with UC Irvine! At the moment, I'm not certain what other opportunities for wikilinking might be out there. I took a look at the article for the James B. Macelwane Medal thinking that the medallists might be listed - and pose an opportunity for a wikilink - but, they are not. I could edit that article and add them but, I'm not certain that that is the right approach.
Any other suggestions? Thanks again Sphilbrick!

- How weird. When I saw the UC Irvine connection to DREAM, I assumed it had to be the same.
- As for other possibilities, adding the Macelwane award winners is perfectly appropriate. I was going to suggest it to you, but I wanted to see the list first. I couldn't open the link at the time, but now I see that the link is flawed. Here's a better link: macelwane
- If you'd be willing to fix the link and add the names, that would give a good opportunity for a wikilink. Try it yourself, if you have questions please ask. Oh, FYI, protocol is to add new messages on a talk page to the bottom. I can find them, but it is easier if you just add a new section.--SPhilbrickT 01:45, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Certainly! Looks like the link has already been fixed. :) I went ahead and added in the list of award winners to the James B. Macelwane Medal article. I added in some wikilinks for some of the other winners as well. I also added two additional categories to the page that the award falls under.
Thanks again! Isolde2000 (talk) 01:29, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, nice work. I removed the orphan tag now that this is linked in. Nice to see that several other award winners are in blue, helps establish that this is a significant award.--SPhilbrickT 13:45, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 19
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Trash Monsters, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Kevin Stewart and Southland (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
