Greetings...

Hello, Irbisgreif, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Thank you for getting a Username!
I (and the rest of us here, too) hope you like it here -- and I hope you decide to stay decloaked!
Happy editing! Nemonoman (talk) 22:03, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to miss discreet vandalism... Irbisgreif (talk) 01:06, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm fine, thanks.

No need for standard greeting stuff, I've been doing this for a while.

I've seen you as IP 173.whatever on 'High Stakes Tests', but it's still polite to welcome you in some form, now that you have decloaked. --Nemonoman (talk) 22:02, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Welcoming is fine and welcome, I'm just familiar with the rules already. Irbisgreif (talk) 01:06, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
and so I replace the big template with a small. --Nemonoman (talk) 01:31, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
So, how does one join the NPOV noticeboard? It seems that editors from conservapedia have gone nuts here lately. Irbisgreif (talk) 01:37, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't think there's a membership roster. I think you just hang around, familiarize yourself with the issues, read a plea for help and test your imagined responses against those that get posted, read, reread, and rereread that outstanding policy WP:NPOV, and dive in. Anyway that's what I did. --Nemonoman (talk) 02:29, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Well...

...thanks! :)

I've just posted a response to your Ivanov AfD comment, by the way. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 14:09, July 28, 2009 (UTC)

No problem, I'd already responded to that, and you sure as heck have earned that service award. Irbisgreif (talk) 14:11, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

I have been familiarizing myself with it, I just would feel more comfortable in proceeding if others were interested. Irbisgreif (talk) 22:42, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

I removed your PROD. The thing is, the neighborhood has been documented by reliable sources because of its opposition against initial plans of the METRORail line. I added that information to the article. WhisperToMe (talk) 05:25, 29 July 2009 (UTC) BTW I also removed the PROD for Copperfield and I am working to improve the article. A tag has been placed on Luigi Pichler requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Just so you know, I normally avoid AfDs about the subjects which are completely alien to me, so the comment I supplied is based strictly on my interpretation of the policy/guidelines. Like I said, if additional sources are introduced by folks who are more familiar with the subject than I am, I'd be more than willing to re-assess and, depending on the quality of those sources, possibly even change my position.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 14:04, July 29, 2009 (UTC)

I just remember your advice in Ivanov being sound and valuble. Irbisgreif (talk) 14:12, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

I would like to point out that the company is the only producer of phosphorous in Europe. It's not major, but it is notable. Irbisgreif (talk) 19:39, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

The T

I'm not certain how you determine that a subway station shouldn't have a page on this site. Look through the systems and you'll see a variety of pages. I'm bringing Pittsburgh's into the same status. This page is short because I'm trying to just get things up at the moment. More can be added later, but if you look at pages subways stops that aren't terminuses/transfer stops/located in downtown cores for many of the systems, you'll see that they have just a paragraph or two as well.Mr. Vitale (talk) 02:57, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Last I checked, individual train stations were not considered notable unless they met WP:NOTE (subway lines, on the other hand...). These other subway station articles should be reviewed as well. Irbisgreif (talk) 02:59, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
While I know that these articles aren't very long, I feel that a less extensive system like Pittsburgh's T is being singled out. For example, many of the stop's on New York's subway that are located outside of Manhattan feature one or two paragraphs of information. If the small suburban T stops must be deleted because they don't serve anything but residences, then the NYC stops that serve residential-only areas in Queens or Brooklyn should be deleted as well. Anyway, I decided to start this page because I'm from the North Hills of Pittsburgh and haven't ridden The T in a long time (its 20 miles away from me). I was going to head out on it to a friend's house which is located off one of these smaller stops, and I couldn't find a lot of info. So I think we're adding to the site by including this.Mr. Vitale (talk) 03:05, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't trying to single the article out, I was just patrolling new articles and saw one that seemed non-notable. If there's something interesting about the stop or the consensus is to keep it, that's fine then. I'm not running around trying to target a particular system or anything. Irbisgreif (talk) 03:07, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
What I'm saying is that you're targeting what first came to your attention. I understand that. But if these are to go because you feel they don't meet Wiki guidlines, then the ones from other systems should be tagged too, right? The information on Pittsburgh's T and other smaller light rail systems isn't so extensive online. I'm going to try to expand these things next time I ride to the friend's house, so I can add the names of the neighborhoods within the suburbs that they serve, as well as anything else that might make them less generic.Mr. Vitale (talk) 03:11, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, the others should. Please feel free to be bold and put them up for deletion as well. If you feel that someone should create a directory of all the subway stations, consider going to Wikia and starting a navigation Wiki for your area? Also consider putting a list of stations in an article for the subway line. Train and subway lines are generally considered notable. Irbisgreif (talk) 03:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
In almost half a decade of contibuting to this site, I never understood why I should be expected to be bold. The way I see it is that when you tag one particular group of edits, you're being destructive to the site. If you feel that what I'm doing is crap and you also have been made well aware that there are hundreds of articles just like mine on the site, then you should be the bold one and tag some of the others. If not, it just seems that you're saying one group is relevant and one isn't.Mr. Vitale (talk) 03:19, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm not saying that at all, I'm just busy checking new articles right now. There's a lot of really bad pages (attack pages, spam) that people try and make, and so some people haunt the new pages list and check things. Perhaps later I'll decide to go through and start some AfD's on other stations. Like I said, instead of a bunch of small articles, consider making one long one listing all the stops on a given line? Irbisgreif (talk) 03:22, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Long before I started making these, subway lines have had a rather universal format, where each station gets a page, and navagation box appears at the bottom, allowing for a sort of virtual tour. I've found these useful when travelling to other cities where I've ridden mass transit (Bay Area, DC, Boston, etc). Since I live in the North Hills and my city's light rail runs through the South Hills, I'm not overly familiar with it. So I created this so it would be on the same format as the others. I'm not a transit geek or anything, so I have no idea if there's a page on formatting for mass transportation. But if not, perhaps something needs to be created. Instead of having us debate it, guidelines should be written as to what sort of stops can be included.Mr. Vitale (talk) 03:31, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Urostealith

Hello Irbisgreif, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I contested the speedy deletion of Urostealith - a page you tagged - because: Not blatantly vandalism or a hoax. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. NW (Talk) 03:25, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

No problem on my part! I have made much worse mistakes myself. All the best, --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 03:40, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Rivendell Institute contested

Hi Irbisgreif. I am informing you that I removed the speedy deletion tag you placed on Rivendell Institute as schools and universities does not fit the notability criteria for speedy deletion. Please ignore my comment in the edit, I did not see you were a new user and though it was tagged by one of the regulars who tag this stuff. Biofase flame| stalk  03:46, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tag on Future of Forestry

I removed your speedy deletion tag from this article as it's survived a previous AfD and so not really suitable for an A7 deletion as it's been found notable in the past. If you still think this page should be deleted you need to take it WP:AFD again. Dpmuk (talk) 10:00, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Lapot

If you look now, I have found some academic sources. I have removed the hoax tag. Clearly the editor who placed the tag did absolutely no research . Jezhotwells (talk) 15:37, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Tag Removal

Hi, I was wondering if you could remove the tag message from my talk page. The article was deleted and I am leaving the article alone. The tag message has not been removed. Thank you, Snackshack100 (talk) 16:20, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

You can go ahead and remove it yourself, it's not a problem. Irbisgreif (talk) 16:42, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I removed your speedy on the article and replaced it with a prod. It looks like the author was actually trying to write a genuine article, and neologisms aren't speediable under the csd. Regards, Fingerz 17:56, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Okay, no problem. Irbisgreif (talk) 17:56, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
On second thought, I'm tagging it as A7, under non-notable web content. I believe that classes in an online game fall under this criteria, since it's still web content. Just FYI. Fingerz 18:05, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia just loss half it's source of information when you deleted that post! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carman560 (talkcontribs) 18:28, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Me again

Hey, so I removed your prod on Pink slip (auto). The fact that it was mentioned on the website of the California Department of Motor vehicles gives it some credibility. Feel free to AFD if you wish.Fingerz 18:44, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Wolfpack Musik Vol. 3: Screamin' Demons

Hello Irbisgreif, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Wolfpack Musik Vol. 3: Screamin' Demons - a page you tagged - because: A9 requires that the artist does not have an article and that there are no claims of importance/significance regarding the musical recording itself. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. SoWhy 18:55, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Travel II EP

Hello Irbisgreif, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Travel II EP - a page you tagged - because: A9 cannot be applied if the artist has an article. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. SoWhy 19:09, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Declined speedies

I have removed your speedy-deletion tags from Death of a Party (band), Travel EP, and Travel II EP . The first was inappropriate as the article includes assertions of significance and evidence of significant coverage, while the other 2 were invalid as A9 deletions as the article about the artist (Future of Forestry) has not been deleted - the A7 tag you placed on Future of Forestry was also invalid as the article has previously been kept at AFD. A little more care might be in order. Regards.--Michig (talk) 19:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

2 minutes?

Hi Irbisgreif, I would ask that you wait perhaps more than 2 minutes after creation before scripting a speedy deletion. The article was not completed yet. Themindset (talk) 19:14, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

It's generally a good idea to make sure that some claim to notability is in the initial article. Also, it is improper to remove a speedy template yourself. Irbisgreif (talk) 19:17, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
My apologies for removing it. I am a formerly active wikipedian, and in my day the policy was to simply remove the speedy tag. I have placed the hang-on tag and listed reasons not to delete on the talk page. Thanks for monitoring new pages. Themindset (talk) 19:35, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
No problem. I generally try and err on the side of caution with article inclusion, so if it does pass muster, I apologize for taking up your time. Irbisgreif (talk) 19:38, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Why do that?
