Holodomor

[edit]

Hi Iopq, re your comment at talk:Holodomor, please note the date of the message to which you posted an objection. That message was over a year old and the issue was decided by now exactly as per you said. --Irpen 02:00, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

D I don't read dates. Maybe I should start. Maybe some of the older discussions should be archived. --Iopq 02:02, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Portal

[edit]

Ok,heheheh I reverted you entry at talk:Holodomor as per above, but if you mind, please feel free to restore it.

Discussions are usually archived only when the page lengths get excessive. Did I tell you about Ukraine portal? I remember that you were interested in UA topics but I am not sure we talked in the past. Всього найкращого! --Irpen 02:11, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm checking out the Ukraine portal. What are portals for? I'm unclear on the concept. I'd say something in Ukrainian, but I'm in the library and copy pasting letter by letter sucks :D.-Iopq 01:03, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Portal is just the place to make Ukrainian coverage at wiki better and more conistent. Also, one user:AndriyK calls people who care about the country enough to create and maintain portals and write articles an "anti-Ukrainian mafia". You can find more at his talk. Portal lists topics that need attention, links to the key articles and has two important announcement boards that I suggest you add to your watchlists:

As for writing in Ukrainian, feel free to do so in emails to me but in English wiki talk pages, it is better to write in English, if you can. To write in Ukrainian without the keyboard, consider http://newyork.mashke.org/Conv/ Make sure you pick "Manually translit-UKR" from the dropbox. Всього найкращого! --Irpen 01:25, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Працює! Although I'm not confident about my Ukrainian, the page is very useful, it uses pretty much any kind of transliteration I give it. I like that.

-Iopq 01:32, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
If you are not confident about your Ukrainian, you can email me in Russian or in English but in en-wiki talk pages lets stick to English, except for the users who have a difficulty using it. If you like the portals or see the articles there you would like to get your hands on, do not hesiate :). --Irpen
I'm enjoying reading AndriyK's talk. :D -Iopq 01:43, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't I try to talk to the guy all I could. Also, there is more at User_talk:Irpen#Discussion_on_maidanua.org and many other talk pages. He went lowest here (Користувач Irpen - дуже хитрий, винахідливий і наполегливий троль) and here. The latter is especially funny to see the so-called a patriot of Ukraine recruiting absentee voters to rig the vote. Does it remind you of anything?

However, while there are a couple of contributors here, whose contributions need watched, you would enjoy much more writing new articles. There are plenty of red links at portal. For example, we still do not have Petro Doroshenko article. Also, we are trying to make Orange Revolution a Featrued article (how anti-Ukrainian is that!) and your help would be appreciated. Cheers, --Irpen 02:14, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I was thinking of writing an article on Ukrainian phonology. We have Russian phonology so I'll use that as a template :D but some things in Ukrainian like the pronounciation of the letter sh is different from Russian, but not obvious. -Iopq 02:19, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Great idea. Also, the Ukrainian language not an ideal, but not so bad article was recently subject to butchering by the same fellows and is now in even a greater need of improvement. Please check its history and talk, if you are interested. --Irpen 02:21, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I put it up. It needs a bunch more content though. -Iopq 00:23, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I removed some strange stuff from your talk. Feel free to restore it. I just stopped by to tell you that I noticed that you started a Ukrainian phonology article. When you are done editing it for a day, please announce it at Portal's new articles' announcement board. Thanks, --Irpen 02:47, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I put up the link in the portal. If there are any other phonetic topics you want addressed in the article, don't hesitate to tell me. As for the weird stuff, I guess the admins don't have a sense of humor. This is NOT laughapedia :/ -Iopq 10:34, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You are the subject of a User Conduct Request for Comments: Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Iopq. It has not yet been certified by a second party. If it is, Please add your view of the matter under the "Response" section. Jkelly 03:11, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if that's correct, I added it in the talk page of the request. -Iopq 01:51, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Would you mind moving the "Statement" on the Talk page to the "Response" section on the main page? That's where it should go. A casual observer could otherwise be left thinking you made no response at all. I'd suggest leaving the second comment at the Talk, however. Thanks for responding. Jkelly 02:07, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it under some inside views... are the inside views part of the response? The structure of the page is really confusing. -Iopq 02:13, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Moved it right under Response. -Iopq 02:15, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Is it ok to move the File:Kyiv.ogg file to Wikimedia Commons so that Wikipedias in other languages have access to it as well? --Iceager 07:01, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I give my permission. The reason I didn't do it to begin with is because I didn't have the time to check out what the commons were. -Iopq 06:46, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The file is cut off at the beginning, so that there's only the release of the k. Would you be willing to make a new file? LokiClock (talk) 13:58, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh cool I didn't know about those user boxes now I made use of them thanks to your user page. How neat.Xioyux 22:23, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some guy had at least a hundred of them so I decided to hoard them myself. BTW, GO Ukraine in FIFA 2006!!!! -Iopq 13:48, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nooooo

[edit]

We're not, "gonna get raped" =p. We might lose with small margin. And voronin has an Injury so he won't play. But we can beat italy. Last time we played them in friendly before the World Cup in Rome without our strikers and shevchenko and they couldnt beat us it was 0-0, so won't be a big score win for them anyhow if they win. GO UKRAINE! Xioyux 20:02, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good, maybe they'll put someone good in who will pass the ball to shevchenko more coughrebrovcough. -Iopq 20:36, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We didn't get raped mate, we had 59% possession and 7 shots on goal out of a total 13 (more than italy), just defensive slip ups and some bad luck (crossbar, etc), 3-2 would have been right score. We just don't have the experience of this level yet. I say congratulations to Italy and good luck to them vs Germany, we'll be back in four years with our team that was finalist in 2006 U-21 Euro championship! Ukraine is on the move!! Xioyux 21:05, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If we substitute out a defender out we better have a high possession. Shovkovskiy should have had that first goal though then the game would be a lot different because we wouldn't substitute the defender out. -Iopq 02:11, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! (Ukrainian: З Новим Роком!, Russian: С Новым Годом!). I wish you in 2007 to be spared of the real life troubles so that you will continue to care about Wikipedia. We will all make it a better encyclopedia! I also wish things here run smoothly enough to have our involvement in Wikipedia space at minimum, so that we can spend more time at Main. --Irpen

Request to move to kyiv

[edit]

Hello,

I have set up a request to move the page Kiev to Kyiv.

I have outlined four key reasons for doing so in the discussion section of the page.

Looking through the archives, I saw that you had contributed to this page earlier. I would like to hear what you have to say on this topic.

Thank you
