We seem to have a misunderstanding
[edit]Hi. I've reverted your edit to Communism once more. You seem to have a misunderstanding about what Wikipedia is. It might help for you to read WP:NOT and WP:NPOV. Thanks. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 21:32, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Communism
[edit]Ion-weapon, I share your hatred of Communism, but it does no good to introduce subjective, opinionated and innacurate statements into this page. To say that Hitler was a Communist is clear nonsense. If you have some specific issue you wish to raise use the talk page. White Guard 23:32, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to tell you right now, Ion-weapon, that your behaviour so far looks very much like that of a troll, someone who comes to Wikipedia to intentionally provoke a reaction. But I'm going to take one more shot at helping you to understand this place. It's not your personal soapbox. It does not exist to spread any particular point of view -- even one that I happen to share with you. Our goal here is to objectively report verifiable facts. Here's the text that you attempted --repeatedly -- to add to Communism today:
- Communism is the idea that everything is owned by the state. It in practice always leads to mass murder and mass starvation since the economy can only operate by commands from a governing minority which can never see the totality of problems in a state of any size. Central authroity is mercilessly enforced often against the will of the individual, which is seen as unimportant. Many who are into communism hope to get richer and see a society without disparities in wealth. The ideal is the same as socialism. Both communism and socialism do not work in the real world.
Ok, let's break that down.
- "Communism is the idea that everything is owned by the state." Redundant, already covered in the opening sentence of the article.
- "It in practice always leads to mass murder and mass starvation...." This is a conclusion, not tied to cited facts.
- "Central authroity is mercilessly enforced often against the will of the individual" Conclusion, not cited.
- "Many who are into communism..." Uncited speculation -- a personal opinion, not backed up by cited facts.
- "Both communism and socialism do not work in the real world." -- a broad conclusion with no attempt to back it up with facts.
No, Ion-weapon, I'm not being dense. I happen to share your opinions of Communism. But Wikipedia isn't about opinions, it's about verifiable facts. And if you take the time to read the complete Communism article and follow the various links, you'll see that we already have extensive criticisms of communism.
I'm asking you to think about what I'm telling you, and do more reading and less posting for a while. If you continue to post unsubstantiated opinions and nonsense like Hitler was a Communist, you'll just be wasting your own time, and ultimately you'll find yourself blocked from Wikipedia. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 00:10, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Your vandalism of User talk:Jim Douglas
[edit] This is the only warning you will receive.
Your recent vandalism will not be tolerated. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 00:36, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
I probably don't have much room to speak, but...
[edit]Trust me. Stop vandalizing. It's not worth it. I can say, as a previous vandal, I immeadiatly regretted doing so, and it took almost two weeks, multiple admins and users, and a lot of talking to get the ban removed. And even after all of that, I'm walking on thin ice. If I give any of the admins reason to believe that I am a sockpuppet rather than a seperate account on a small, shared IP address, any and all accounts made in my house will be permanently banned. Trust me, it's not worth it. And if you really feel the need to bash communism, I can assure you, there are many places on the internet where you can do so without consequence.
