Andra Philander Hines (born January 11, 1964) is an American R&B and Soul Singer-Songwriter, Hip-Hop/R&B Record Producer. Andra started his career at the early age of 14 when he recorded his first album with a local band in Detroit where he grew up. Andra grew up around music legends, with Motown right up the street from his high school Andra got to see many of his hero's.
One of his biggest musical influences was Queen Funk aka Maillia Franklin (of "Brides of Funkenstein") who allowed him sit on her basement stairs to watch P-Funk rehearse daily.
This exposure him to such incredibly talented Musicians, setting his mind to what he wanted to do with his life. In high school Andra form his 1st band and started preforming locally around town. Andra soon thereafter met a local Musician by the name of "Cory Blake". Cory and Andra immediately clicked and started working together. They form a band call "69" which later became "Blake & Hines".
After playing around town they caught the ear of manager Forest Hamilton. Shortly thereafter they were signed to MOTOWN RECORDS by Smokey Robinson himself. BLAKE & HINES then went on to sign with Larry Blackmon (Who was also managed by Forest Hamilton) of the funk group "Cameo" Record Label. Andra spent time with Larry Blackmon learning the actual Business of Music, which inspired Andra to leave Blake & Hines, return home and start his own Record Label.
Andra return home and team up with his younger brother a popular Detroit D.J. by the name of DUNCAN HINES, who was part of the Rap Group "Detroit's Most Wanted" and together they became known as 'The Hines Brothers". And became some of the most sought after Producers. Andra and his brother Duncan relocating to the San Fransisco Bay Area to work exclusively with MC Hammer as staffed producers, producing Music for Hammer as well as several Artist.
