Your recent edits to User talk:CharlieEchoTango could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved. (Relevant diff.) Manning (talk) 09:48, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On this fairytale about "equal access"

[edit]

Wikipedia is a privately owned website, and as such it has no obligation to let you use it for marketing purposes. In fact, that's actually one of the things that Wikipedia prohibits. You will want to read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for more information.

If you'd like to know what the minimum requirements are for describing a book on Wikipedia, then Wikipedia:Notability (books) has some information that might be useful to you. The most important criterion is the requirement for multiple in-depth WP:Independent sources, such as long magazine articles about the book that were written by people that have no connection whatsoever to the author, book, publisher, or marketing campaign. It is unusual for a book to meet these requirements in advance of its release.

I assume that someone told you that the English Wikipedia had some sort of "equal access" rule. If you remember who that person is, I hope that you will find an opportunity to acquaint them with the actual facts, before they spread this misinformation to anyone else. I'm sure you would not wish anyone else to be surprised to discover that there are significant limits to what is accepted. There are other wikis that do not have these limits. Some of them are listed at Wikipedia:Alternative outlets, and perhaps one of them would be a more appropriate target for your marketing efforts. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:49, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
