Speedy deletion nomination of User:Imosley/sandbox
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Imosley/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. How to get content back
[edit]Hi! I didn’t mean to publish it, I wanted to save it as a draft since it wasn’t in my sandbox and not published in Wikipedia, and was going to transfer it over once completed. How do I get that content back? Thank you! Imosley (talk) 12:32, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- "Publish" and "save" mean exactly the same thing here. Every page in Wikipedia including user pages, sandboxes, etc. all have to comply with policy about copyright, WP:BLP, and WP:NOT. You are welcome to develop content in a sandbox but if it looks like advertising or something else that doesn't belong here, it's liable to get deleted. I recommend you write your draft in code within a text editor like Microsoft Word. That way, you can still create your work and develop it outside of Wikipedia until you're ready. Of course, you can ask at WP:REFUND to have the content restored. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:09, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Warning
[edit]Hello, Imosley. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article User:Imosley/sandbox, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – Athaenara ✉ 22:18, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Your page was a blatant advertisement for something called the "Bridge Investment Group LLC". If that company is paying you to write about it on this encyclopedia, you are required to disclose that on your user page with a {{Paid}} notice. – Athaenara ✉ 22:20, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

Mistake to post
[edit]This blockage seems a little rash as I mentioned I did not mean to post this. I read the guidelines and didn’t realize there was a conflict or that I was publishing since I thought the sandbox was just for me to practice. I wasn’t even close to advertising nor would I advertise - I thought I was just saving and not publishing. There were many many steps and edits I still have to take and would like to be reinstated to edit. I appreciate your clarity in this matter and thank you for teaching me how to use Wikipedia correctly. This was 100% a mistake and would like to be treated accordingly. Thank you! Imosley (talk) 23:08, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- Your sandbox page was copied from the company's "About us" page, your professed naïveté here is not credible. – Athaenara ✉ 23:39, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- I wasn't done editing, by far, as mentioned above. I didn't know it was actually going to post anywhere. I don't know how many times I must stress that. If I were to actually advertise, why would I just do it in my sandbox and not on Bridge Investment Group (which hasn't even been created), if I was actually trying to advertise? This was meant as a practice to get a hang of editing and to continue learning more about Wikipedia as a new user. Now I can't even learn or create credible content because of a simple mistake. That doesn't seem right. I am absolutely being mistreated here, and you making assumptions about my intentions are completely off. Again I didn't mean to PUBLISH anything, nor was I even CLOSE to editing and making sure I was abiding by the guidelines. I am new here, but I do not have bad intentions at all. I thought the sandbox was a practice space and was using it as such. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:800F:8700:F402:9D51:42C2:6F3F (talk) 23:56, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- And according to your page on the company's website, you are "an Analyst in Investor Relations and Marketing" there. You're trying to make us believe you are naïve; we are not that naïve. – Athaenara ✉ 00:00, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- By the way, Wikipedia:User pages#What may I not have in my user pages? was linked in the deletion log, did you not read it? – Athaenara ✉ 00:14, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- (yes, I am responding on a different computer, as I am not home and don't have the credentials handy to sign into my actual account). Again, you are missing the point. I am not trying to hide who I am at all (clearly!). I am not trying to insult your intelligence, but I am confused as to why you are stuck on proving something that I am not even arguing for. Again, to be as clear as possible, I am not trying to hide my role at Bridge. What I am naive about has nothing to do with that. Clearly. However, I was naive about publishing something that was meant to be a draft/work in progress in my sandbox. I wholeheartedly thought it was just for me, it was to be saved, and I could come back and work on it later. There were many checks and balances that I wanted to do as I continued perfecting the page. Clearly, I have a lot to learn, and one of them is knowing that the sandbox isn't private as I thought it was. Moreover, there are other people who have had the same issue/mistake of publishing in their sandbox content that wasn't even close to being completed. As stated before and all other places I've commented, I had no intention of actually posting what was posted. I didn't even know it was actually posted until I got your deletion notification. You can see that I'm extremely new here, and just learning the ropes. I just wanted to save my work so far and then come back later once I got a hang of everything.
- In regards to actually posting the page Bridge Investment Group: Bridge Investment Group, like Blackstone and Apollo (who have wikipedia pages) are pillars in the Private Equity Real Estate space and we absolutely should have a page too, especially because we made and continue to make a huge impact on the communities in which we are involved. I see that there are multiple people who also had this issue of publishing sandbox items on accident. I was thankful that you gave me the instructions on how to fix the article (COI, PAID tags, etc). However, I was subsequently removed from editing and cannot apply any changes. I'd be more than happy to work with you or another editor to make sure that the page that I do put up clears ALL guidelines since there shouldn't be an issue putting it up if I do indeed abide by all wikipedia guidelines. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:800F:8700:F402:9D51:42C2:6F3F (talk) 01:02, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- The actual point here is that you tried to subvert the purpose of this encyclopedia to use it as an advertising platform for your company. – Athaenara ✉ 03:19, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- This user must think we at Wikipedia are stupid. IP address blocked. Talk page access revoked. If they want to lodge an appeal they can do so through WP:UTRS. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:14, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
