Welcome
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia; here are some pages you might want to become familiar with to understand Wikipedia guidelines and policies.
- WP:COI – information about editing with a conflict of interest
- WP:RS – information about the kinds of sources required for any content on Wikipedia
- WP:WIAFA – information about Featured articles (like Donner Party) which required high quality (eg scholarly) sources
- WP:OWN#Featured articles – information about editing Featured articles
- WP:ELNO – what kinds of external sources can be linked
- WP:3RR – information about edit warring, which can result in editors being blocked from editing Wikipedia
Please do not continue to reinstate your edits when others have reverted them, and please be sure your proposed text is reliably sourced. Also, if you have a conflict of interest on an article, you are advised to suggest your changes on talk and let other editors make them. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:12, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
EDITWAR and Forlorn Hope (disambiguation)
[edit]Did you read the information I gave you above? You have now readded potentially COI information at Forlorn Hope (disambiguation) three times, not in accordance with how disambiguation pages are written on Wikipedia, and in spite of two editors removing the text, and without discussion. This is known on Wikipedia as editwarring. We don’t write articles on disambiguation pages. The purpose of a DAB page is to direct readers to the article; I have now corrected the entry to do that. Continued edit warring after notifcation twice
[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.
After my first notice to you above, you again editwarred att Forlorn Hope (disambiguation), and now also at Donner Party, where you again reinstated an external jump to a Featured article without providing a source.[1]. If you continue editing Wikipedia like this, you can be blocked by an administrator; you need to understand Wikipedia guidelines and policies, and reach consensus for your reverted edits before reinstating them. - My intent is not to interfere with protocol. It is to correct facts which have been proven incorrectly reported on Wikipedia (“Miwok” incorrect “Nisenan” correct) and added reference to Forlorn Hope. I am not an expert on Wikipedia. So let’s begin again. Can you assist me in editing the two above topics? I mean no harm here no have an agenda. Just like Sgt. Friday, “just the facts”. Thank you and apologize for any misunderstanding. My expertise is in research not Wikipedia (where we are changing the prior historical error in history books, papers, historical references, etc.).Imcrowley (talk)
- See Talk:Donner Party; you need to start by a) not edit warring, b) discussing on talk *before* readding your text, and c) understanding sourcing requirements on Wikipedia. Discussion can continue there. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:34, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- I have provided an explanation on the discuss/talk page. Thank for the tips and references. No war intended, just trying to correct the fact(s) and obviously struggling with the protocol which is my bad - appreciate the patience and guidance.

[edit]Hello, I'm Fastily. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Bob D. Crowley have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Thanks. -FASTILY 00:28, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Bob D. Crowley. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. -FASTILY 02:23, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Fastily I pinged you to a discussion at Talk:Donner Party where you can see the big picture; I am not sure how the bio can be addressed, and I suspect Sphilbrick can tell us if there is anyway now for this bio to be deleted (I am guessing there is not). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:57, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Imcrowley, I am several hours ahead of your timezone, and am done for the day. In the meantime, you have made the same mistake at Bob D. Crowley that you did at Donner and at Forlorn Hope: you can’t keep reinstating your edits once they have been challenged. Please slow down and wait for others to explain. Fastily is an admin, and Sphilbrick works in WP:OTRS, which specializes in dealing with situations like your bio; please wait for one of them to show up to help you, and don’t keep reverting while I sleep :) Your bio has been on Wikipedia for over a decade; it does not need to be dealt with urgently. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 03:05, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Imcrowley, to gain some perspective, I encourage you to compare this to this. We are all volunteers. Several editors have done their best to accommodate something you brought forward for which there are no sources. But as volunteers, we are also extremely busy on many other articles, including preparing articles to be featured as WP:TFA on Wikipedia's mainpage, and rewriting dated medical content. Please do not continue to persist on filling the talk page with content for which there are no sources; we have given more than our best effort here. I am taking an early (weekend) jaunt, so will only be able to keep up for the next few days from hotel in the evening, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:30, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
