Things to work on for your Week 9 continued edits:

  • Evaluate an article: Go back to your article evaluation and pull out the list of things you said you could improve on the existing article. Put that list here in the talk page and cross things off as you do them (you can also edit what I have said below and cross things off as you complete them).
  • Copyedits: These look great, just make sure it's clear which section each sentence is from.
  • Bibliography: This is a good start, but as formatted it is hard to see what is an peer-reviewed academic source (many of these appear to be newspaper articles). Also, don't use links to the Temple Library portal (those are not accessible to anyone without a Temple account). You need to find permanent online links for these that are available to anyone. You should also should start summarizing and adding content to your sandbox that utilizes these sources. That way you can see if you need to do more research. There are several callouts for "citation needed" in the existing Wikipedia article, and you should see if you have sources you can cite for those.
  • Citing sources: The citation is not properly formatted. I recommend reviewing that training so you know how to insert them so they appear formatted correctly.
  • Adding media/hyperlinks: Good hyperlinks, but when you publish those edits you need to include what specifically you hyperlinked. You should go through and see if there are things that should be hyperlinks in whatever you add and the existing article. The image you added is fine, but be sure before you add media to the live Wikipedia article that it is actually necessary or contributes to the article (that is, you had to do it for this assignment, but in your final Wikipedia contributions don't add it just to add it).
  • Overall: You seem to be doing things week by week, but now you really need to focus on the bigger picture of what you plan to add/edit here. Is there more in the existing article that needs copyediting? More citations you can use to expand on the sections you said needed to be developed more? The more planning you can do now the easier it will be for you to chip away at those edits between now and November 22 when you need to move your final edits to live Wikipedia.

Week 12 Feedback: Be careful not to do "batch edits" when you move your work to live Wikipedia. For instance you can bold your changed language/grammar/etc. but publish that separately from any added citations. Similarly, did you add new citations or are you copying over citations from the existing Wikipedia article? Most of the sections where you said you added citations don't appear to be new citations but rather ones that are already in the Live Wikipedia article. As the citations are already in the Live Wikipedia article you don't need to adjust them (they are already there). You are only adding the new ones you found. If any of these are new ones you are adding, just make sure that is clear in your sandbox after you move everything over to live Wikipedia next week.
