The band fits the criteria, as published articles have been written by them in several international publications (in Ireland as well as the U.S.), and the band has several songs in rotation on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, broadcasing throughout North America, as well as numerous other outlets.

Notability of Voodoo loons

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Voodoo loons, by Nuttah68, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Voodoo loons seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Voodoo loons, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Voodoo loons itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 22:29, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Euphobia cover thumbnail.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Euphobia cover thumbnail.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 06:24, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Voodoo Loons has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet WP:BAND

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:56, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion to keep or remove the article does not take place on the article's talk page. You can just remove the Prod, but as the article's creator, that isn't usually permitted. Even if you do remove it, I'll create an article for deletion discussion, which can't be removed. Arguing that "several independent publications print stories about them" isn't helpful since those publications are not reliable sources. And their upcoming album doesn't make them notable either. See WP:BAND for the criteria for determining if a band is or isn't notable. Walter Görlitz (talk) 03:18, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:BAND, the band is notable as it has music in rotation on numerous broadcast outlets, including SiriusXM Satellite Radio, which transmits it's signal through North America and part of northern Europe. Ikoman (talk) 03:36, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That does not appear to meet BAND, but you can offer that information to the XfD. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:58, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
One last thing: while we as editors should assume good faith, for issues like this, we need references to support any claims you need. Since SiriusXM isn't a network, it's a collection of networks, we'd need to know which channel they were in rotation on and what that ration means. In other words, a reference indicating that song x was on the SiriusXM U channel daily during September 2007, or something similar. Being played occasionally is not rotation. 06:04, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
