Nomination for deletion of Template:FootballStart

[edit]

Template:FootballStart has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. Nigej (talk) 08:20, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nigej, I have made my view on that, I couldn't remember anything about this page until I had a look at it. I don't think that is useful anymore so my view on the discussion page provided is provided there. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 17:49, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thanks for your message, Iggy. Let's give them as little attention as possible per WP:DENY. For that reason, I removed your message from my Talk page. Feel free to do the same here. :-) Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 16:29, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:34, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

'Possible block evasion'

Regarding this edit summary - who is the master? Feel free to email me if you would prefer. There is definitely sock/meat puppetry from 36.76.162.94 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and 180.241.35.126 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). GiantSnowman 21:45, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agree re the text seen on that page so I am glad to see these IP addresses have been range blocked after a few days of waiting. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:25, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Iggy, just fyi in case you didn't notice: Spud the Wikipedian claims to be Spud the Scarecrow which is related to Stephen Carlsen64 [1] -> [2] so probably the next incarnation of Mike Matthews17? -- Johannnes89 (talk) 12:31, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Johannnes89: Thanks for your message:- I did not check the user page on "Spud the Wikipedian" before commenting on the Nathaniel Phillips talk page about my view on this nomination.
Yes I do see "Formerly Spud the Scarecrow" on the user page and the second line indicates the user does not know what actually happened. But Spud the Wikipedian is lock evading as seen from the m:Global locks page. Tough but fair. And when I see "my IP address begins with 46", that could be a bluff and from past edits, I probably know the three IP address ranges that Mike Matthews17 uses, none of those begin with a 46 though. You did revert the Victoria2Sander178 contribution but probably failed to spot the Spud the Wikipedian signature on there.
One other thing to point out: Spud the Scarecrow is a fictional character from Bob the Builder and usually he is clumsy and mischievous but then that information comes from fandom wikis which are not to be used on Wikipedia[3]. This could also be impersonating a fictional character which I have never come across before till this year.
Pinging @GiantSnowman and Bungle: who commented on the talk page and @Mattythewhite: who posted a welcome message on User talk:Spud the Wikipedian for any further views on this incident if any. The Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DJdjPollard15 and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mike Matthews17#11 May 2022 may also be useful while the text is still visible on both pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iggy the Swan (talkcontribs)
To clarify: Spud the Wikipedian = Spud the Scarecrow but not Stephen Carlsen or Mike Matthews etc. I've also started to discuss with Johannnes89 as well for issues. Spud the Wikipedian (talk) 11:32, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Would you mind to explain what made you asking another user about an alleged Covid infection of a third user on your first Wikipedia edit? Can't think of any reason, why a user who edits Wikipedia for the first time would ask such a question. I think it's very unlikely that Spud the Scarecrow was your first account. --Johannnes89 (talk) 12:38, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just to acknowledge reading this conversation, though I am unsure if it affects my comment on the aforementioned RM. I have in effect !voted against the proposal anyway and I think Iggy by-and-large agreed with my fundamental point. I don't have any view or comment relating to the potential SPI or the wider discussion there. It may be worth double checking the validity of the IP account which also contributed to the aforementioned RM discussion, which has only made 3 edits in total, all of which to move request discussions. Bungle (talkcontribs) 16:09, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bungle: - I've checked the IP location, it is pointed to The Philippines. This person was giving opinions on those RMs that I participated earlier, one of which I started. It is likely that IP address is probably operated by someone else who lives in a different part of the world to me. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:28, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Investigation opened

[edit]

fyi: I have opened up an sockpuppet investigation on this as I think this is the only possible way to ensure if the usernames are related or not (i.e. from the same network). Pointing out an edit which was made by the Mike Matthews17 LTA ([4]) could be potential sockpuppetry but I didn't notice that on the actual day of edit and eventually when I did the issue was reverted by ToBeFree. Hello Iggy I apologise for the late message, but out of curiosity, I just wanted to kindly ask which sources say mauricio hasn't been sacked or let to by PSG.

Yours Sincerly

A fellow Wikipedia user Leedsunited128 (talk) 22:42, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Leedsunited128: if I remember rightly, I have not seen a source saying he was sacked on the 12 June but I now see that he has though the BBC Sport source says differently. If there was a source saying he was sacked on the day I reverted the change on 12 June, it should have been included as a reference at the end of the PSG section. At the time, I did not think the sacking was correct when I checked the BBC Sport website on the day and Mattythewhite probably thought the same. @Herbythyme good job done there. I thought you were also the same user who also blocked the user on Data, turned out it was someone different :( Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 18:19, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Off-topic but...

[edit]

... two better ways to search for a template's transclusions are Special:WhatLinksHere refined for transclusions and the hastemplate: option in Special:Search (help). -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 18:23, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Second option seems to be better in terms of finding them and more pages are found using that method as well. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 18:33, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A late update

[edit]

Hi Iggy the Swan, thank you very much for Special:Diff/1100748444. It's been a while, but the issue has now been resolved. 🙂 ~ ToBeFree (talk) 16:13, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the thumbs up: I have noticed the blocks in place which must be why I received the thanks notification in addition to the message given to you a month ago. I strongly agree both accounts are used by the same person when I first spotted Johannnes89's discussion and the talk page of the master. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:18, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @ToBeFree: - not sure if you noticed this: on Commons there is also a YeYen KY20 ([5]) who had uploaded a photo of a random person which appears on the YeYen KY user page on this Wikipedia. So probably another account belonging to the same person.
A global lock has been requested ([6]) but it appears they are CU confirmed on this Wikipedia. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:55, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I hadn't noticed this. Hm. This is all pretty strange. But now that stewards and checkusers are involved, I think I don't need to dig further there. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:06, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think I may be out of reverts again. It's odd that the editor keeps being reverted but just puts it back again; not necessarily edit-warring but probably just incompetence. Fails to heed warnings in either Turkish or English, fails to engage at all. Possibly a very young fan of the club involved. Eagleash (talk) 10:52, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and that continues after you've opened the discussion here. There's only one thing to do in order to hopefully calm things down a bit. No surprise by checking Geolocate... Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 18:37, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
