Testing!! :D
[edit]Woohoo. Testing out my own signature. Igavvedit (talk) 03:33, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
Also, what a lovely welcome, even if it was left automatically. And it has useful links, so I'm gonna leave it for a while.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Igavvedit (talk • contribs) 03:34, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- I'm afraid it wasn't left automatically. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 03:38, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
Oh heck... I AM being watched here on wikipedia and it's not even by robots...... Anyways thanks for the welcome <3 I'll try and remember to sign my stuff from now on Igavvedit (talk) 03:41, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- In all likelihood, it probably just me right now.[1] Also it's nothing! I absolutely love welcoming new users to the project.
Editors interested in Broadway actors and actresses, in particular, are sorely needed because a lot of those pages get vandalized. Sometimes it's well-meaning fans expressing their love for Ben Platt or vandals generally just messing with the pages. You see it all! –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 03:58, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- Time to admit the only reason I signed up for this site was because when the Will Roland page was constantly being vandalized a few weeks ago and got set as semi-protected, it was locked on wrong info which infuriated me SO much I thought "I gotta sign up and rack up enough edits so I can change it back when it DOES happen again" and so here I am. I happen to be a big fan of the type of Broadway actors/actresses whose pages will get vandalized a lot........ While I do find these vandal attempts hilarious and probably have some friends who are the ones behind the vandalism, I enjoy having the correct information on their pages a lot more.
- Also, just curious..... How do you find new users to welcome? I imagine there are so many new accounts being set up you don't know which ones are actual people and which ones are robots. Which is what lead me to think the welcome message left on my talk page was from a robot. - Igavvedit (talk) 04:49, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- My apologies for the late reply. If you use {{Re|MJL}}, I'm more likely to see it. I use WP:Twinkle to combat vandals and welcome new users. It basically makes it so I only have to press a few buttons to get it done. Pretty much on the English Wikipedia, no user is allowed to be traditionally welcomed here by a bot. A lot of new accounts don't get welcomed at all as a result, so we have the Welcoming Committee set up to try to welcome as many productive editors as we can. I, myself, have maybe welcomed a few hundred at this point? You'd be surprised about the amount of editors who never write back. In fact, you are the first editor I've probably ever welcomed here that seems likely to stick around longer than a week. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To answer your question, I have Will Roland in my Watchlist. I saw your talk page was in red, and I figured I'd welcome you aboard! Side note: This version being up for four days was really stupid on my end. I still can't believe I let that vandalism sit there for so long. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 06:00, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

- @MJL: Testing testing.......... We'll see if it works :) That's so sad about people not sticking around, though to be fair it took me a month to reply on this page, and it was mostly because I wanted to be sarcastic to what I thought was a robot. Yeah, those were the 4 days that made me angry enough to sign up...... Also some of the previous IP edits on that page were mine and I wanted to start getting credit for the stuff I was doing lol.
- One more question (for now, who knows what else I might come up with). Is there another editor that people use? Like one that's not just the default -> Edit source and start typing thing where everything is manual. Because that's how I've been doing everything so far and editing tables SUCKS. A LOT. Though I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. But anyways if there are other tools or visual editors that I'm somehow missing, I'd love to know about it. - Igavvedit (talk) 06:44, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- [Thank you for the ping] Mornin'!
On Wikipedia, there is no deadline, so don't feel bad it took you so long to get started!
Well, I'm glad that it happened then! I am sure both AmericanAir88 and I appreciated your efforts to help cut down on the work needed for that page. The problem always is trying to find which editors are good actors and which ones are bad. That gets easier when you know them, though.
Yeah, the VisualEditor sounds exactly what you are referring to. IPs don't have access to it, but you should be able to enable it within your preferences. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 12:21, 17 August 2019 (UTC)- @MJL: Just got around to testing out the visual editor a bit and WOW is it a world of improvement. Editing tables no longer makes me want to cry. Thanks for letting me know about it! (though now thinking, it was probably in one of the links you gave me above that I still haven't read) - Igavvedit (talk) 05:06, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
- (Thanks again for the ping!) I don't think even I have ever read most of those links. The one worth checking out the most is The Wikipedia Adventure, though. That's because it's an interactive game . –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 14:23, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
- ...And I see you were already ahead of me there! lol –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 14:40, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!
[edit]The Excellent New Editor's Barnstar | |
On Wikipedia, we give out awards called barnstars. This one is given to new users who show exceptional promise in their ability to give back to the project. I have never had the chance to give this award out before, but I am exceptionally happy to see your name pop up as often as it does. Thank you for your contributions, and happy editing! –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 14:37, 21 August 2019 (UTC) |

DYK for Charlie Rosen (musician)
[edit]On 8 January 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Charlie Rosen (musician), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that orchestrator Charlie Rosen can play 70 different musical instruments? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Charlie Rosen (musician). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Charlie Rosen (musician)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
