Hello
[edit]It's good to see an academic like yourself beginning to contribute. Regarding your draft article, you should probably search the archive of google news archive for articles about SICSA to demonstrate that it is notable, meaning that it has been covered by independent sources. Please let me know if you come across any difficulties / have any questions. Thanks SmartSE (talk) 18:33, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Conflict of interest is a problem here
[edit]Hello Iansommerville. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article User:Iansommerville/Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to you, your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Response Considered very carefully and every attempt has been made to maintain objectivity, with extensive reference of statements in the article. In spite of the COI, I believe that my involvement leads to a better informed, more concise article. Iansommerville (talk) 11:30, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
Ultra-large-scale systems
[edit]But the first sentence says that they are (always) software systems ... Tony (talk) 00:57, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
First sentence seems to have been garbled somehow. The SEI book makes clear these are not just software systems but it then goes on to focus on the software elements Iansommerville (talk) 13:45, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Are you able to tweak the opening, then? I don't have the knowledge. Tony (talk) 11:38, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
License tagging for File:LSCITS-stack.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:LSCITS-stack.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:06, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Now done. Iansommerville (talk) 10:09, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Mainspace/Requirements engineering
[edit]A tag has been placed on Mainspace/Requirements engineering, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.
If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 18:01, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
