Sam Simmons is a popular writer on Scotch Whisky. He is known in the Scotch Whisky community by his pseudonym Dr. Whisky, and is noted as a writer who brings Scotch to the ordinary person; he won the first consumer choice award (with 45% of the votes) for Best New Non-Whisky Product at the 2007 Drammies. He is one of a few Scotch experts (another being Kevin Erskine) leading a trend of introducing single malt whisky to amateurs and enthusiasts through hosted tastings, and has published tastings on over 300 whiskies.
Sam Simmons is currently based in London and New York. He was born in Toronto, and spent four years in Edinburgh Scotland hosting tastings and distillery tours as a member of the University of Edinburgh Water of Life Society.
