User talk:IanRitchie
Welcome
[edit]Hi Ian. Since you don't have a user page I'm assuming that you are relatively new to Wikipedia. There are some handy thoughts on how to contribute effectively at Wikipedia:Policy trifecta.
Thanks for adding information to the MacLeans College page. One comment that I do have is that you might want to consider how 'encyclopedic' some of the information is. For example, the McLeans values might not be of interest much outside the school. Again, is there anything special or noteworthy about international students at McLeans? I have recently added an infobox to all the NZ School spages, and the best ones are the ones that mention something that differentiates this school from other NZ ones. Cheers Neil Leslie 08:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Neil.
Sorry if this isn't the right way to respond...i'm not entirely used to this yet...
I'm not very new to Wikipedia, i've never bothered with a user page. I decided to have a decent shot at the Macleans page after i looked it up a while ago and saw how bad it was.
Like i said, it is a work in progress. I imagine there is something noteworthy about the international students programme at Macleans, but i haven't examined the idea yet. I'll take it out if it is needless. I was going to expand on the Macleans values and more of the schools policies in the next few days, as i always felt it differentiated Macleans from other Kiwi schools. I thought that the information was fairly encyclopedic. If i looked up a school i wouldn't want some mindless drone about the general stuff there. I'd want to know the 'interesting' things about the school, like values etc. The acronyms were something drilled into us for 5 years, so i figure there is some importance there.
By the way, Kirkcaldy, Fife? I have family there. Nice place.
Hi Ian, Kirkcaldy is not that nice, else I wouldn't be in Wellington! About McLeans: feel free to add whatever you want, if you think it is interesting. Best wishes Neil Leslie 23:25, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Fair enough. I only spent a few days there and then it snowed...in April...

Warriors
[edit]I'd much rather be doing players than results - at least I already know most of the info this way. I figured it was a good time to start a section now that the Official website lists all the players in chronological order. Cheers for that site. Bartercard Cup
[edit]Drat, my Raiders lost did they? Saw a table that hinted they had on nzrl.com but couldn't find an article or anything. You got any links to match reports? Also any comments on what I've been upto with the Bartercard Cup stuff? Cheers. Mattlore 08:55, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, Rangers :$ I must still be living in the Lion Red Cup days...They just hadn't updated themselves when I visited the site earlier. Cheers Mattlore 09:45, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Footy Club
[edit]Hi, I am trying to introduce a club for rugby league supporters that will be more than just a wikiproject and help to encourage rugby league participation and article improvement. I have written down some of my thoughts about what wikileaguies should attempt to do and would be interested if you, like other rugby league supporters, would be willing to be involved on some level. [1], leave signage and thoughts on the talk page if you are interested. Cheers. --Rugby 666 08:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

NZ Dual Rugby Int'ls
[edit]HeyIan, I've done lots of work on the Aussies in Category:Dual code rugby internationals . Also now lots of the Welsh qualifiers are getting added & even 2 Samoans!! But there are at least 30 more Kiwis/All Blacks missing. Don't suppose you can steer me to a list of them can you ? Sticks66 13:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Tony Martin
[edit]Hey, Saw you reverted the NZ Warriors page nationalities - while it wasn't me that made the original changes, Martin has qualified as a Kiwi and declared himself eligible last year so I think he should have a Kiwi flag. Personally I would remove the Australian flags from Fien & Martin but I'll leave them with both for now. Cheers Mattlore 11:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Pretty sure I remember reading an article in a paper with them interviewing him and he saying he'd want to represent NZ - although I guess it could be my memory playing up. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mattlore (talk • contribs) 11:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC).

Image source problem with Image:Auckland lions.JPG
[edit]This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Auckland lions.JPG. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:35, 31 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Thank you. License tagging for Image:MTSMARTPAN1.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:MTSMARTPAN1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
