Hello IanBlack2, Welcome to Wikipedia. I see that your first edit was to Neuro-linguistic programming/Workshop. How did you come to find this article? Johntex\talk 22:16, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I am a Wikipedian who likes to welcome new members to the community. I was intriqued by your edit because it was the first one you ever made here. The page you edited is an unusual page in that it is not the main copy of the article - it is a working copy being worked on by some editors who are trying to reach a consensus about how the article should look. There are very few links into the article, which means that few people would find it by random chance. That is why I asked. Why do you ask if you have broken etiquetee? Do you think you have done so? Not at all in the spirit of what I have done. I just changed the tense of a sentence. But the Wikipedia format's pretty unfamiliar to me. I'm not really sure where to stick my name, how to acknowledge I did "x", or whether that happens automatically. It's plausible some irate soul is now seething, especially on such a disputed page! (I'm not even sure if I need to reply to you on your talk page or here! These ubiquitous "edit" links aren't really that intuitive outside of the Wikipedia entries). Anyhow, thank you for welcoming me Johntex.
- You are very welcome.
- Regarding signing your name: Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. You shouldn't sign your name to articles at all. In case you forget, the database tracks who makes what edits, so even if you don't do this (though more tedious), it is possible to figure out who said what.
- As for where to reply: The usual protocal is that if the discussion is occuring on an article discussion page, to continue the discussion there. If the discussion is occuring on your talk page, then you put your reply back on the user's user's page, like you did the first time with me. This gives the recipient an indication that they have a new message. I am now going to give you some more links that may be helpful to you:
- Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place

on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Johntex\talk 00:43, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
