Contested deletion - A.M. Pattison page being developed by me in the sandbox

[edit]

Hi. This page should not be speedily deleted because it a serious and well researched and referenced piece about Canadian artist A.M. Pattison, who studied at the Art Association of Montreal (now the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts) under two of Canada's leading art teachers (William Brymner and Maurice Cullen), was a classmate and friend of members of the Beaver Hall Group and was an accomplished artists in his own right. I have worked very hard on this piece and will soon be in a position to post it, so I would be very disappointed if it were to be speedily deleted without just cause.Ian.fraser1 (talk) 20:49, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

I have noticed that someone removed the categories, and it's indeed reasonable for user-space articles not to be refered via article-space categories. There is a trick however which should allow to add those without them taking effect (they will be links rather than proper categories).

Taking the previous categories as example: Category:1880 births Category:1957 deaths Category:Canadian art Category:Canadian artistsCategory:20th-century Canadian painters Category:Artists from Montreal Category:Artists from Quebec Category:Canadian artist stubs.

Note that I used [[:Category rather than [[Category. Of course, you would then need to remove those : prefixes once your article has been submitted.

Another idea is to use <nowiki>...</nowiki>, where everything within ... will not be interpreted as Wiki-code. It is also possible to insert comments into the article which will not be displayed, which may be useful as reminders. This is done using <!-- ... -->. I hope this helps, PaleoNeonate (talk) 12:17, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
