User talk:IZAK/Deleting lists and categories of Jews
Interesting
[edit]Interesting. However your point of view seems rather biased by your not too discreet indirect attack on muslims. Any validity in your points in the eyes of some would be invalidated by your hypocrisy. Do not forget, there are people of muslim descent on wikipedia too; and not all of them are foaming at the mouths islamofascists.
While there is anti-semitism on this planet, there is also a lot of anti-islam, anti-christianity, anti-black and anti-white sentiments out there. Armenians and Gypsies are two groups that were also hit with remarkable ethnic hatred last century - hatred of jews is not unique though the barbarity of the holocause is unique in modern times. However the relative prominence of jewish americans in the media, especially in relation to other historically oppressed groups, makes the specific crimes against them aired more often in the public arena. Claiming jewish people are special in any regard compared to non-jews such that they should be treated different is inherently biased and aganst wikipedia policy. Consistency is important. Considering that most books that list prominent jews, and websites that list famous jews, are run by jewish people, I don't think these lists are only for the benifit of non-jewish nazis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fermat1999 (talk • contribs) 23:59, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Argument
[edit]Most of this seems to be a quite valid argument even in cases where I don't agree. However there are a few things that seem to say we must treat Jewish people "special" or almost with kid-gloves because they are unlike any other people in the history of the Earth. Although Jewish history is unique, to a large extent, there are many peoples with unique historical situation. The Kurdish people, for example, have a fairly unique status among stateless peoples. The Mapuche also have a unique history of fighting against those who sought to conquer them. Further an argument could be made that the Roma and therefore Category:Roma people were in a situation that had similarities to the situation with Jews.--T. Anthony 05:33, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Proposal
[edit]Whatever the merits of this proposal (which is not even a prposed guideline on wikipedia), it was not referred to in either of the discussions listed. Both discussions considered the issue simply on the basis of those categories being irrelevant intersections. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:28, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Rejected
[edit]Again IZAK, this proposal of yours has been flat-out rejected by the community: see -- [1]. --User:Wassermann
Saudi Arabia does not permit Jews to enter
[edit]Wassermann: Since you had this question (-- really? can you source that claim?), here are a number of open web sources to enlighten you:
- Saudi Arabia Bans Jewish Visitors
- BBC: Jews barred in Saudi tourist drive
- WorldNet: Saudi tourism: No Jews please
- BBC: Jews barred in Saudi tourist drive
- Saudi Arabia: No Jews need apply
- and here's one about Hindus debarred from entering Saudi Arabia and one about
- and Saudi Arabia Bars Bible-Bearing Flight Attendant
And there's lot's more about Saudi antisemitism and xenophobia online. IZAK 23:33, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- If Jews aren't permitted to enter Saudi Arabia, why did the Saudis allow Nouriel Roubini (a prominent Jewish-Turkish-Iranian-Israeli-Italian-American macroeconomist) to enter the country in March 2008? PROOF HERE --Wassermann (talk) 21:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- Every rule has its exceptions, and in this case, the exception proves the rule. IZAK (talk) 03:46, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
