As you have just started editing, I hope you find the following selection of links helpful and that they provide you with some ideas for how to get the best out of Wikipedia.
Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (IULawAlum) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to represent the Indiana University Alumni association (alumni.indiana.edu) rather than yourself as an individual. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account to use for editing. Thank you.Fæ (talk) 10:44, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your note. I respectfully disagree with your contention that my username "appears to represent the Indiana University Alumni association (alumni.indiana.edu) rather than [me] as an individual." I am an alumnus of the School. The term "alum" is a common colloquial abbreviation for alumnus, which is singular, not plural. And as such, my username accurately conveys that I am ONE graduate of the school, and it does NOT imply that I represent any alumni association. Of course, if my username were "IULawAlumni" (which it isn't) or otherwise suggested a plurality or group (which it doesn't), then I would tend to agree that you have a valid concern. But since I clearly use the singular form (alum), no reasonable reader of my username would assume that I represent the Indiana University Alumni association.
