Hello! New to Wikipedia so sorry for the issue! I attempted to create a draft article for the Flourishing Business Canvas but it was marked as spam. I am part of a volunteer group of global first explorers who have been using the canvas, and wanted to make information on it more accessible to people on the internet as I think it is a useful and proven tool (and notable considering the number of journal articles on it and global community using it). I attempted to write it in the same style and layout as the Wikipedia article on the traditional Business Model Canvas to ensure it was neutral and informative. Any suggestions on why it was marked as spam (but the existing article on the related Business Model Canvas is fine) would be really helpful! I.pinnell (talk) 18:19, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm an administrator here on Wikipedia. I took a look at your deleted draft, and I think I can point to a few things. First, Wikipedians tend to be suspicious of adjectives. Words like "popular" and "unique" are used to puff up something and make it sound more impressive. That's expected in a press release, but it's inappropriate for an encyclopedia. The phrase "enable more effective collaboration" is pretty much meaningless. I guess you could say something is a "collaborative tool", but I never heard a real person say, "My new car enables more effective vehicular transportation." Although, who knows, maybe PR guys talk like that to their friends. What you want to do is describe a topic using slightly formal wording and stick to verifiable facts. No flowery words, no buzzword bingo like "it enables innovation by proactively changing paradigms to encourage sustainability", etc. Stuff like that will get your article tagged as promotional and possibly deleted. If you're involved with the topic, you should also read our guideline on how to manage a conflict of interest. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 22:36, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) There are several problems here. Firstly, you're not just "part of a volunteer group"; WP:PAID is likely relevant to your position. Secondly, the draft's sources all fell into one of three categories: Sources that didn't mention the Flourishing Business Canvass (Ehrenfeld), sources that were authored or co-authored by people connected to the Flourishing Business Canvass, and ones that were not reliable (blogs and other websites without editorial oversight). If there is any independent coverage of the Flourishing Business Canvass, the draft didn't show it; instead it was a summary of all the nice things people associated with the project have written about it (plus some nice things that weren't actually confirmed by the sources, inependent or not).
