[edit]Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to FM (No Static at All)—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. - Thank you for your attention to my edit.
- You may note that the lyrics to this song were written by Steely Dan lyricist Donald Fagan who did not see the movie, and had no knowledge of its content. He was only asked to compose a song with "FM" in it. The song and the film are not related. Comparing the song to the film as the quoted reviewer does, could not have thus served any point. They are non sequitur. Comparing the song further to rival broadcast mediums (AOR) goes even more off on a tangent with again, no relation to Fagan's lyrics about girls loving him twice.
- This was somewhat common during that era. Think of Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson" in which she is placed in a mental hospital in the song but not in the movie... Joe DiMaggio is in the song but not the movie... there are allusions to the death of Marilyn Monroe in the song but not the movie ("Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.") There are in fact no lyrics in the song which pertain to the movie.
- It is the same with FM. There are no lyrics in the song which pertain to the movie. I don't know why you would think that my edit was not constructive.
- Thank you. Hyper hippie (talk) 21:32, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- I am not sure whether your reverting my comments pertained to their content or because I deleted someone else's comments. I absolutely need to apologize for doing that. I should have known better.
- I will try to proceed with your guidance first instead of editing. Would my comment be more appropriate and less disruptive if I did not delete anything but added this:
- "There is another simple interpretation of the lyrics, that they describe how there is scant reluctance for sex when wine and music make the mood just right. When that occurs, the girls will love you right, love you twice, because there is No Static at All, meaning no inhibitions."
- Thank you. Hyper hippie (talk) 00:12, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
