Photo of you
[edit]Hi! Many thanks for offering to help with providing a photo.
The form that needs to be filled out is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:CONSENT
The usual process is;
- You upload an image at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard (you might need to log into your account there, or create an account)
- You send an email, including the link to the newly uploaded image, to the email address listed on the consent webpage, specifying that you agree to the license (as listed above)
- The people at the email address sort things out and might ask you some questions
Often it is more complicated than that! One problem is that the photographer owns the image, not the person being photographed. So, unless you photograph yourself in the bathroom mirror like cool kids (apparently) do, you need to explain how you own copyright to a photo taken by someone else. It might be the someone else that needs to fill out the form.
(If you should be in a position to have a USA serviceman take a photo of you while carrying out their duties, that's an entirely different thing, because all such photos are public domain and thus can be used freely on Wikipedia.)
If this is all just too complicated, it's also fine to email me the photo (demiurge1000@gmail.com) and I will try and work it out. (It will still end up requiring basically the same steps as above anyway.) --Demiurge1000 (talk) 00:50, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
