Cube Heaven
[edit]Please do not add this link back in, since sites which require registration are contrary to WP:EL. Hellbus (talk) 22:08, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- See also User:71.254.47.64 which also seems to spam the same startup registration-necessary website. Ian Cairns (talk) 23:37, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Rubik's cube. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. SpinningSpark 12:37, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
The site demanded registration when I tried to read the forum threads yesterday. It might not be doing that today but the "Gallery" still demands log in and it is still not an appropriate link for Wikipedia articles as it is adding nothing significant to the encyclopedia. - No thank you, I do not wish you to post any links on my talk page. I am only concerned with the links you are placing in articles. I think you should go and read the guidelines on external links, especially WP:EL#Links normally to be avoided and most especially points 4 and 10. After that read WP:EL#What to link and consider what it is on your site that adds something to the encyclopedia that is not there already. There are literally hundreds of forums and web pages on cubing. This site is not an official site in any way; it does not add any significant information for our readers, in fact it seems to be largely devoid of any information - at least the parts I can access without registering. If you can point me to a line in WP:EL#What should be linked with which your site complies then I might consider stopping removing the links. At the moment I cannot see the justification for it. By the way, it is the convention on Wikipedia to start a new thread on a talkpage at the bottom, not at the top as you did on my page. In future, you can do this automatically by clicking the "New Section" tab at the top of the page. Thanks. SpinningSpark 21:09, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
