User talk:Hunchoming
Welcome to Wikipedia, Hunchoming. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links that are often suggested for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
Note in particular that Wikipedia insists that you cannot in Wikipedia articles express criticisms of certain ideas or bring forward arguments in favour of other ideas unless you show that you are reporting the criticisms or arguments of others. As you can see, it is not a matter of being right or wrong: it is a matter of avoiding what Wikipedia calls Original Research. You cannot say: "What Tom said is illogical." You can say: "Dick said that what Tom said is illogical" (showing by a citation that Dick did say it). Of course, on the Talk (discussion) pages you are free to put forward, about the subject matter of the article, as many original ideas and arguments as you like.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question.
Thanks and good luck. Lima 03:51, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
