Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!Eagle (talk) (desk) 06:05, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
Edits go in instantly
[edit]Sorry to bring this up, but when ever you leave a message on someones page please sign with ~~~~.
- Back to the topic, What you put in is placed on wikipedia, that does not mean that someone else will not change it, or find it offensive...I hope I answeared your question, If I did not please leave me another message.Eagle (talk) (desk) 07:12, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Good job with the ~~~~ Thanks!!! Trust me people really like to know who posted what. Just remomber that you don't sign in actual articles, only on talkpages and disscussion pages.Eagle (talk) (desk)
- As you were referting to the "football match" if what you put in keeps being changed the best thing to do is to go to the articles talk page (by clicking the "Discussion" tab) and post the reasoning behind your changes. (Be as accurate as possible). Just remember when you post on the talk pages, be civil. If you are in a dispute...a very good page to look at, (to make sure that you are on the right side of the rule) is Wikipedia:Resolving disputes
- IMPORTANT no matter how correct you think you are (I'm alway rightSo I think, look at my talk page to find plenty of instances where I was not) never undo someones edits 3 times in one day. If you do you probably will be blocked for diruptive behaveior. If you need more info about this click on the following link WP:3RR. The link explains the policy very well. - Please respond back and tell me if my response was correct, of the mark, or just plain dumb!!!!Eagle (talk) (desk) 21:30, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Uh...your forgot to sign...but that is ok, I knew who you were!!!Eagle (talk) (desk)
Not disruptive!!
[edit]I know you are not disrutive...I did not mean to imply that, even so the locations and rules above were the first things I looked at...As they are often the way well intentioned wikipedians go astray!!! The main one to keep in mind, especially with hotly contested articles is the WP:3RR. (this one states that they will actually block you...Don't worry as long as you keep asking questions you won't get blocked.) Plus we are supposed to assume good faith. (This is the one policy I agree 100% with...some of the others are just dumb...I did not say that:-)Eagle (talk) (desk)
Copyright info
[edit]If you feel that the changes that you make are unclear, or need to be justified in someway and you have the sources, by all means make the changes. (often times content is entered without sources and we have to find it later)...What I'm trying to say is that you are one step ahead...You actually care about putting the appropriate souces with the infomation!!Eagle (talk) (desk)
A good place to go to learn about this is Wikipedia:Verifiability known in shorthand as WP:V. There are 3 content-guiding policy pages...feel free to look at them... They are mainly commen sense. (I have only looked at WP:V, the others are important but also just plain commen sense:-).)Eagle (talk) (desk)
Justification of edits
[edit]If you need to justify the reason you did something the best place to go is the articles disscusion page. (You can get to here by clicking on the "discussion" tab. Just state your changes and the reasons why in a civil manner and you are set.
- If you do this it is best to put article on your watch list. (when you do both the main article and its talk page are added) To do this just check the watch this page checkbox above the Show preview button when you post your comments. Another way to do this is to click the "Watch" tab. its up on the top next to the "edit this page" "disscussion" ect. tabs. Eagle (talk) (desk)
- REMEMBER BE BOLD Eagle (talk) (desk) 22:54, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Don't forget...feel free to respond and tell me how good or bad my response was. (Did I get the bullseye or did I shoot the wrong thing!!!) I really appreciate it if you respond back!!!Eagle (talk) (desk)
