Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, HouseLuv 20. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Glovibes, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 00:03, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
I received a message from you in January regarding a conflict of interest flag you placed on Glovibes Wiki.
I was not aware of the editing rules and am hoping you can assist with removing the flag? I manage Glovibes DJ bookings and was simply keeping his discography current. it was not my job to edit anything - I did it because I saw that other DJS kept their discography current but didn't realize this would create an issue.
Is it possible for you to remove the flag? or can you explain the process of having the page deleted?
I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.HouseLuv 20 (talk) 18:21, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, did you also edit Glovibes using accounts Maria Marquez of Citrusonic and Mariamar73? Have you read our policy on paid editing? Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 19:05, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi There, yes those are my accounts. I did not read the policy on paid editing because I didn't know it existed and I wasn't getting paid for editing. Do you have any other recommendations I can do to help repair this issue? HouseLuv 20 (talk) 19:31, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- You identified yourself here as the manager of Glovibes' bookings, for which I presume you are being remunerated by the employer you've disclosed, Citrusonic. You mentioned perhaps wishing to get the article deleted. Is that how you wish to proceed? Another option would be to remove all of your contributions to your client's article and restore it to its previous status, and you could request edits on the talk while disclosing your conflict of interest. I can help with either option. Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 19:44, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining the options. I do handle the bookings Glovibes, but need to be clear that Citrusonic nor Glovibes has never paid me to make edits. i made edits myself just to make the page be complete and up to date.
The option I choose is to remove my contributions and restore it to it’s previous status. Can you give me more information on requesting edits on the talk while disclosing a conflict of interest? By disclosing a conflict of interest by me, does that mean I can make edits in the future without a “flag” reappearing on the page? HouseLuv 20 (talk) 20:09, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- You can request edits and another editor with no business relationship with the article subject will review them for neutrality and respond to your request, and if everything is fine, edit the article as requested. I would recommend reading Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance which provides step-by-step guidance. Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 20:30, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Understood - Thank you. I will read the article. How long will it take for his article to be restored to status? HouseLuv 20 (talk) 20:45, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- Once you've made your edit request, it will be added to a list of requested edits which is patrolled by editors interested in helping preserve the neutrality of our encyclopedic articles. The Wikipedia community consists of dedicated volunteers, there is not guaranteed ETA. Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 21:29, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you so much for taking the time to assist me with this.
I will read the article asap.

Hi Salvidrim I appreciate all that you did to assist me with the issue with Glovibes page. I was looking at his talk page and it has that banner with the $ sign... it states that Citrusonic paid me to make edits which is not true. can you help to remove that also? im not sure why it shows this but if there is any proof you need to back this up, I can provide asap. Citrusonic nor any other persons has ever paid me to edit anything.

- Unless your work for Citrusonic as the self-identified manager of Glovibes is performed as an unpaid intern, I'm not sure why you'd be saying you don't have a money-related conflict-of-interest concerning your edits to your artist's article... Ben · Salvidrim! ✉ 21:13, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
