USS Louisiana mode of propulsion

[edit]

I noticed that you changed the mode of propulsion on USS Louisiana (1861) from a sidewheel steamer to a propeller powered ship. The Dictionary for American Naval Fight Ships, cites this vessel as a sidewheel steamer [1]. What source are you using to determine this change. Just curious. Ship articles

[edit]

Hello! I noticed your work at Black Warrior and CSS Curlew and I'd like to invite you to join WP:SHIPS (you might also want to join the related project WP:MILHIST#Maritime task force). You obviously have some great sources, and we could certainly use more content in the Confederate ship articles. A lot of the edits I made to those two articles were just to bring them inline with conventions we use for ship-related articles here - I'd be happy to point you to those guidelines, if you're interested. Thanks! Maralia 00:01, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a Hall Monitor

[edit]

No thanks needed, it's what I do. ;D And not really a big deal, either, just needed a few extra seconds of "can I use fewer words?" ;p TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 02:49, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How does X work?

[edit]

{{helpme}} I have recently tried helping out on WP:SHIPS. I've started on some of the simpler tasks, such as adding sections to articles. I am wondering, however, that once I make those changes, do I go ahead and remove the relevant tag from the article AND the article name from whatever category it's in on the WikiProject ships homepage? Or do I let an editor or a 'bot to do the work? Thanks, --Hollingsworth (talk) 22:23, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that the page has been improved and maintenance templates like {{wikify}} no longer apply, then you can certainly remove those templates. In general, those templates are added and removed by editors, not bots, and they require editors like you to both recognize the problems and recognize when the problem has been fixed. Thanks for your contributions! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 22:28, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Luna

[edit]

Thank you for your cleanup today on Luna. I think there's a larger question, though. The Luna website hasn't been updated since 2002 and they don't answer e-mails. Although the article asserts various things as of 2007 and 2009, there's no backup and it was largely written by User:Tugnut, whose only contributions have been two edits on Luna with a lot of facts and no references. I don't even know if she's still afloat....

Although I have a great fondness for tugboats, ultimately my selfish concern is that I'm working on fully illustrating National Register of Historic Places listings in Boston and sooner or later I'll need to take a picture of her, or prove that's she's permanently elsewhere. So, any help you can give toward figuring out what's going on with her would be appreciated. . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 23:22, 2 January 2010 (UTC) If you chose to respond, please do so here.[reply]

Because its on the National Register of Historical Places, the Massachusetts Historical Commission is responsible for the tug. Try emailing them at mhc@sec.state.ma.us. Looking Luna up on Bing Maps showed it in 2009 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. Hope this helps.Hollingsworth (talk) 00:06, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

USS Belknap images

[edit]

I responded to your query at Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions#USS_Belknap_DD_251. --Hammersoft (talk) 17:48, 7 January 2010 (UTC) Ahg! Except you meant DD 251 not CG 26! Hang on... --Hammersoft (talk) 17:49, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:M33 monitor in 2009.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
