I work for the City of Pasadena, Pasadena Public Library, TIS dept. (TIS=IT for us; go figure) Our IP range has been blocked due to misuse by one of our public network users (Wiki knows him by Scibaby, among other names). We have, essentially, two groups of users, public and staff. I see the reasons for the block and take no issue with it. Late last week, I requested a modification of the block, not a complete removal. I requested this because my staff needs to be able to create a wiki-page for us. I have not heard back from the admin who blocked us (I'm impatient, I know; It's been a week) and I would really like to discuss the matter.
The way our system is set up, we have several hundred computers and servers divided across a set of internal networks. Each network gets its own NAT'ed external IP address. The only one I need unblocked is one of our staff IP addresses (*.*.*.249). I feel this would maintain the security Wiki desires while allowing my staff to do their job, a win-win if you will. The other option, which would allow more staff at our other locations to handle some of our Wiki-endeavors, would be to only block certain, specific sub-ranges, those that belong to our public networks (*.*.*.201 through *.*.*.209 and *.*.*.254) or unblock certain, specific sub-ranges, those that belong to our staff networks (*.*.*.221 through *.*.*.229 and *.*.*.247 through *.*.*.254).
If an admin would please contact me, it would be appreciated.
Thank you,
