Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Draft:Himoon App, and I noticed that your username, "Himoon.app", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. — AP 499D25 (talk) 01:09, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

This page is not promotional in nature. It is factual and contains similar structure and facts to those of an existing page, Taimi. The page does not contain any references to the pros or cons of the app and is not intended to be promotional or advertising in nature. Where possible, external resources have been used Himoon.app (talk) 02:32, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

On Wikipedia, promotion/advertising is not limited to talking up a subject or soliciting customers. Wikipedia is not a place for companies to tell the world about themselves and their products or offerings. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. The vast majority of people, companies, and products on this planet do not merit articles. You declared a conflict of interest, but if you work for the company that produces this app, the Terms of Use require you to make the stricter paid editing disclosure. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your app, so we will need to know what edits you intend to make instead. If you have no other interest here, this is the end of the road. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:05, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As an aside I will write that it is usually a poor idea to use other existing articles as a template for a new one- these other articles could themselves be problematic and you would be unaware of this as a new user. The Taimi article indeed has some problems, and I have marked the article as such. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate articles to get by us. We can only address what we know about. If you want to use other articles as a model or example, use those classified as good articles, which have been checked by the community. 331dot (talk) 09:05, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. I'm helping the company but I am not paid by them so I didn't think a paid editing disclosure would be required. In terms of the edits, I wanted to create the basic page with initial information as a structure and further information may be provided by other users as the business expands. I think it meets the requirements of notable as it is a global app with more than 50,000 users and numerous mentions in the media. Himoon.app (talk) 16:54, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
