"Controversy" sections

[edit]

Hi Hilary 8006, and welcome. Thanks for your contributions so far. I'd like to draw your attention to Wikipedia:Controversy sections. We generally try to avoid such sections in biographies. Perhaps it is possible to weave your additions into existing sections instead? Overemphasis on controversies and criticisms is not expected in a neutral (WP:NPOV) encyclopedia; see the section WP:PROPORTION. Thanks much. Have you read the above links? Would you be willing to trim down your additions? As they stand now, they are overwhelming the content of the biographies, are not in keeping with WP:PROPORTION; WP:Recentism and WP:NOTNEWS are also relevant here, in my view. Did not know that I will revisit. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Hilary 8006 (talkcontribs) 01:57, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

While you're revisiting it, could you please not add spaces between content and the references you supply? 208.81.212.224 (talk) 02:32, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but I feel the need to say that's a very very minor issue compared to WP:PROPORTION. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 02:51, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I was looking at others examples such as Drew Hayden Taylor and did not notice that. Reviews exist. I will add them in. Thank you for the help. However this did make me think colonized people don't always get major reviews in the mainstream. While not a problem for this author it may be why so few indigenous artists and activists who are very well known in their own communities and own media ever get recognition on wiki. Just food for thought about a potential cultural bias and what notability means. Are there indigenous publication that are considered major? Or are the major ones in Canada just the Star and the Globe etc?
