Editing archived discussions

By sheer coincidence, I happened to find your edit to the Ireland Collaboration talk page archive. I am unhappy with it on so many levels. One, there is a bloody great note on the top of the page saying "This is an archive of past discussions. Do not edit the contents of this page". Two, there is an embargo on discussion of that issue for a two-year period, as you well know, and continuing the discussion though the "back door" of an archive is highly dubious. But worst of all by far, to leave a "note to Scolaire" on a page that neither Scolaire or anybody else is watching, without notifying Scolaire that you are doing so, is disrespectful at best and downright sneaky at worst. I am deleting the post, and I advise you to leave it deleted. Further, you needn't leave me any more "notes" - here, on my own talk page or anywhere else - unless it is to apologise. I have no intention of getting involved in that silly, pointless dispute again either now or in the future. Scolaire (talk) 07:30, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

I've struck out part of my post because it is unfair: the discussion you edited was from October 2010, and it wasn't on the naming issue per se. My comment re the "back door" still applies, however. Scolaire (talk) 06:31, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Scolaire, sorry, my fault. I didn't realize it was an archive page - I was reading the back-story for the county articles lede, and mixed up the archive with the current page. You were right to delete it, and I accept the ire directed my way. But it was a genuine mistake... --HighKing (talk) 19:06, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
