Flag of Ireland

Having read over [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Ireland#Flag_of_Ireland_2 the discussion] on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ireland on the recent move and the concerns expressed, I have begun a move request on the flag. Your comments would be welcome here.--Domer48'fenian' 19:12, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Is canvassing allowed? Mooretwin (talk) 11:17, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
It is not canvassing he is letting know editors who took part in the last move for and against. BigDuncTalk 11:22, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
He didn't let me know. Mooretwin (talk) 11:35, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
And why should he as you stated I missed the first vote. BigDuncTalk 11:39, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
I didn't miss the first vote. That statement was wrong, and I removed it. Plus, the statement was written after he notified the other editors (excluding me, of course). Mooretwin (talk) 11:42, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

As I mentioned on the article, as Mooretwin and TU had already commented on the discussion, I did not think I'd have to notify them about it. They have struck out their comments, so no harm done. Thanks again --Domer48'fenian' 12:21, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Response

The article was originally Flag of the Republic of Ireland, I'm trying to find where the page movement consensus occured for it's move to Republic of Ireland (which was reversed later by a 4-3 vote). PS- I chose to respond here, due to edit conflicts at WikiProject. GoodDay (talk) 15:04, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

There's a comment that states that the article was at "Flag of Ireland" for 6 years. I didn't check and took it to be true, but it looks to me like the article was created in 2003 as "Flag of Ireland", and remained at that title until this latest non-consensual move. But it's the 4-3 vote I'm asking you specifically about - in your opinion, was that a consensus for a contentious move? (And hey, email can also work if you like..) --HighKing (talk) 15:11, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

You're correct, the article was originally Flag of Ireland. The 4-3 vote is not a consensus (indeed far from it). GoodDay (talk) 15:16, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

I've changed to support, due to the farcial previous move. Thanks for opening my eyes, HK. GoodDay (talk) 15:22, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I expect you'll return the favour some day (again). --HighKing (talk) 15:28, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Not so, Mooretwin. I'm the one who was seeking info on the flag article-in-question. GoodDay (talk) 15:56, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Was only asking. Mooretwin (talk) 22:29, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

By the way, I hope we're disgarding those IP accounts opinons. GoodDay (talk) 18:28, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

I think I need to step away for a while before I lose all perspective. Thanks though for the comments GD. --HighKing (talk) 00:06, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

No prob. GoodDay (talk) 15:13, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Welcome back, HK. GoodDay (talk) 19:07, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Perspective regained :-) ty. HighKing (talk) 20:25, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
