hi there, regarding your advanced rights, why don't you just give them up, you are not using them to benefit the community any more. Govindaharihari (talk) 14:59, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- (watching) @Govindaharihari: Well maybe; but think it only becomes an issue if they're using them to the detriment of the community. In any case, why the suggestion? It seems a little out of left field you know. ——SerialNumber54129 15:03, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- it is just something I support that users with advanced permissions that don't need them and or are not using them should give them up. I also do not support advanced users that make minimal edits to avoid the removal of their advanced permissions, you can see in the last two years there are only three admin edits https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/HighInBC Govindaharihari (talk) 15:14, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. This issue has come up repeatedly in community discussion. Unless I have missed something, which is possible, the community has decided not to do this.
I will also point out that this is not my first extended absence. I have been away for a while in the past and have come back to do more good work. It is very possible I may return in the future to do more good work. HighInBC Need help? {{ping|HighInBC}} 18:42, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes you may and that would be great, thanks for your response. Govindaharihari (talk) 20:57, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hey HighInBC, how've you been? I'm wondering if you have a moment to update HBC AIV helperbot to be aware of rangeblocks when removing actioned reports from AIV. It seems like that could be accomplished by passing the bkip parameter rather than bkusers for IPs when calling the API in the check_user subroutine in the bot's source code. (I have no clue how Perl works, so I'm not making any direct suggestions, but I'd guess it wouldn't be very difficult.) Thanks! Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 08:32, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- I might have time to take a look at it, but no promises. It has been years since I looked at that code. HighInBC Need help? {{ping|HighInBC}} 00:54, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, HighInBC. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
