DYK for Drew O'Connor
On 1 July 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Drew O'Connor, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after going undrafted into the National Hockey League, four teams heavily recruited Drew O'Connor (pictured) upon the conclusion of his collegiate career? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Drew O'Connor. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Drew O'Connor), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi Hickory, did you have him has one of your projects to eventually work on? I know he's in a weird and kinda sad spot in his career right now, but he's an old GA that hardly has anything written on his pro career. The majority was written around 2011, and mostly only his junior career is covered. I was about to file a GAR request for him like I did Jordan Eberle, but you did a great job with him and wondered if it was worth the trouble if I would just trust the process with Ellis instead. dannymusiceditor oops 05:03, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hey DannyMusicEditor, thanks for the message! Holy cow, how did I miss that? Ya, that needs a lot of work. Gotta love how the contract and first NHL goal somehow made it in but nothing else. I'm currently working on Chris Kreider (nominated him for DYK but need to hit 5x expansion) but I didn't have anyone after him. I get why, but it's a bit of a pain that I need to get a GAR for Eberle when the tag was removed like two months ago. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:02, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- Actually, Ellis is one of many, it's not an isolated thing, he's just a more egregious offender. His nominator retired several years ago. He was a big fan of Vancouver hockey and players from Vancouver - more than just the Canucks - but oddly Ellis seems to be one of the oddballs that was none of the above. Ryan Johansen, Sami Salo and Chris Tanev are a few more I could name that need serious attention. dannymusiceditor oops 04:20, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- DannyMusicEditor, do you think it would be useful to make a Sandbox list of articles that need improvement? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:39, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Sure, I could work on that. dannymusiceditor oops 02:51, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Here is a list of old GAs that need at least some kind of attention. Just saw you'd fixed Johansen, by the way - commendable work! Think he turns it around in Colorado? dannymusiceditor oops 05:35, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- I hope not because that means more writing for me . But honestly yes, if he gets stable and consistent wingers I think he'll do fine. Thanks for the list, most of those players weren't even on my radar! If you're ever interested, I have this list that I started during the 2019 WikiCup. Jaden Schwartz is probably the highest on my priority list there.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 14:47, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Added a few more to the list, this should be everything. Jesper Fast is another one that was delisted, if you wish to count that. dannymusiceditor oops 01:25, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

As always, any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) and Cwmhiraeth (talk).
