DYK for Laura Purser-Rose

On 5 January 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Laura Purser-Rose, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Laura Purser-Rose became the first woman to sign her name on the Green Monster at Fenway Park? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Laura Purser-Rose. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Laura Purser-Rose), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Keewaydin Temagami

@HickoryOughtShirt?4:

Hello, I realized that I hit save on the edit prior to removing the part related to what kids gain from the experience.

This is what I wanted to add to the first paragraph to give more information about the way in which Keewaydin canoe trips. A traditional style of traveling and camping in Canada.

"Keewaydin Temagami camp provides single gender wilderness canoe trips for boys and girls ages 10 to 18. Kids paddle in wood canvas canoes, using traditional tumplines to portage canoes, equipment, and wannigans (the wooden boxes in which they carry food and equipment.) Meals are cooked over open fires and sections (camper groups) prepare all of the food from basic ingredients. Groups (sections) of six to eight kids with staff travel wilderness waterways, often portaging from lake to lake or up and down rivers, making camp at new spots each night, sleeping in tents with one or two other campers. Length of canoe trips ranges from 5 to 10 to 21 to 40 to 50 days depending on age and experience of campers."

71.169.174.220 (talk) 22:32, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

This is basically copied and pasted from the website. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:44, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

@HickoryOughtShirt?4: This is a non-for-profit organization that is describing its canoe tripping. It is accurate information that is also corroborated through [2] and the book, The Keewaydin Way. I guess it is my lack of understanding and mistake to have included the website's information regarding what kids do at the camp and in what way.

If the criteria for editing has not been met, would the former version of the history and description of Keewaydin Temagami be returned? Thank you. 71.169.174.220 (talk) 00:57, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi IP and welcome to Wikipedia. It does not matter if the organization is a non profit, it still violates copyright laws. Secondly, Wikipedia doesn't care what the organization says about itself, we care what third party sources say. I will not restore the previous version as nothing was sourced. Per Wikipedia policy WP:V, everything needs to be verifiable. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:59, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Big Hands Johnny - Page Deletion - Author's Request

Hello!

I am the creator of the Big Hands Johnny Page that you have deleted previously. It was flagged for "Unambiguous advertising or promotion," but I fail to understand how it meets the criteria. Despite lacking some understanding of the function of this website, I have quite the expertise in understanding what words mean.

Based on the very Wikipedia definition of "unambiguous advertising or promotion," the page needed to have "exclusively promotional" content. The page at hand simply produces content relating to the Big Hands Johnny comic strip in a casual but neutral tone. Now, as detailed by the very Wikipedia page you cited in the deletion, "if the page can be rewritten that is preferable [to deletion]". If the problem was simply the tone, I assume you would have followed the correct procedure and notified me to edit the page. However, your deletion seems to indicate that there is a deeper issue present.

Wikipedia promotes the distribution of encyclopedic information from an unbiased 3rd party. After thoroughly reviewing the guidelines for deletion upon this event, I can only speculate how the page format and tone, which I emulated from other notable cartoons/comic-pages such as Garfield and Calvin & Hobbes, is biased. I simply would like to know how this page differs in style from these other successful pages and why a request to edit those pages has not been made.

Finally, I would like to comment upon the only remaining un-answered reason for deletion, my relationship to Big Hands Johnny. Although this is the Internet and anyone can be anyone, I can assure you I am not friends with or associated with Mr. Chuckles. Big Hands Johnny is simply a popular cartoon in my area due to the rural nature of our county. Although it may seem deletion worthy to you, you ultimately lack the moral right to restrict information based on your personal opinion of its significance.

Thank you, I hope you can read this message and respond. I believe the page does not violate any metrics, at least according to the present criteria, but I am willing to make edits based on any feedback you present. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CoolDood8139 (talkcontribs) 01:03, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi CoolDood8139 and welcome to Wikipedia. I really think that the article was absolutely not ready for Wikipedia and possibly not even notable yet. A google search of the comic strip title shows just the Instagram with 67 followers. Beyond the fact that nothing was cited, terms like From starting out as a vision in Barney Chuckles's head in early 2018 to a pop culture sensation in 2020 are absolutely inappropriate. I would strongly recommend not re-doing this article as it will likely not be notable enough anytime soon. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:05, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

@HickoryOughtShirt?4:

Dang, you really roasted me. Great job! Big Hands Johnny will simply have to wait to see another day :) Good job holding the Wikipedia fort together m'guy! No harm done.

Hi CoolDood8139 I am so sorry if I came off aggressive, that certainly wasn't my intent. If you really do love comic strips maybe work on updating some of the ones already posted. You can check out a list of them at Category:American comic strips. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:36, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

@HickoryOughtShirt?4: Bro, it's fine I'm just having a goof. Carry on.

Dalimas

Hello,

I am just trying to make new actualization. Dalimas was my favourite Eurodance Group. I have the Information taken from the Oficial Websitte of Singer of the band. It is my first time writing on Wiki, and i noticed that there are many things missing.

The updates i also know from the Instagram Fan Club EURODANCE992006official and the website giseleabramoff.com

Would you help me to get it right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by GA Pop Dance (talkcontribs) 20:03, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey GA Pop Dance and welcome to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, Wikipedia prefers to have third party sources. This is because we don't care what an organization has to say about themselves but what others say about them. The reason I nominated it for deletion (AfD) is that there are no independent sources which discuss this group. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:10, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

But I am a third party. We are from the Eurodance Fan Club.

You deleted all the information that was posted more than 10 years ago.

GA Pop Dance, I deleted it because nothing was sourced. It needs to be a third party source like a newspaper. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:14, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

We were on all 3 versions of Planet pop festivals. We follow Dance Music and all new releases. Its very unfair with we, fans, and the Group 2003

GA Pop Dance, If you can provide independent sources that show significant coverage than it won't be deleted. So far, I cannot find any. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:16, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Please can you at least bring back the way it was?

I can send you all newspaper linmks. They are in Portuguese, from Brasil

GA Pop Dance, I will not re-add unsourced information. You can add content, provided it is sourced, to the article itself. If it is unsourced, I will delete it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:17, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

You deleted not the new information I wrote. You deleted everything that was there since 2004.

I can look for all the sources. I dont know how to write the sources.

GA Pop Dance, yes, again, it was all unsourced. Check out Wikipedia:Citing sources on how to cite sources and WP:V which explains the policies I am trying to explain to you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:20, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

I will look for the Sources. I think Discofdogs, but its been more than 15 years. Where do i write the sources when i rewrite it, at least to be the way it was?

Its very sad that you deleted something thats been so long

GA Pop Dance, Just because something was there for a long time doesn't mean it's good. You can only write what the sources say. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:24, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

The sources are all from Brasil.

At that time, mostlty were on Print magazines — Preceding unsigned comment added by GA Pop Dance (talkcontribs) 20:25, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

GA Pop Dance, if you checked out the link I posted above (Wikipedia:Citing sources) you'd see it explicitly states how to cite print material. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:26, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

I will look for it, we have some magazines and awards the goup had at that time. The Group doenst exist anymore. If I find it, please bring it back to how it was. Its very sad

GA Pop Dance, Once again I will only add what sources say. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:30, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Can I send the sources here? Where do i insert it?

GA Pop Dance, the proper place would be add the sources to the article. So, for example, if a source says the group was started in 2003 then write that in the article. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:34, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

I tryed to make the changes the way it was, but it says its deprecated source. What does it mean. Its Brasilian News, magazina and papers. Why is it deprecated? — Preceding unsigned comment added by GA Pop Dance (talkcontribs) 20:49, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

You didnt give us a chance to change it. Why did you delete it? We habe all reliable sources and i sent the link, but we do not know hoe to insert it in the right place. For Brasilian eletronic music scene ots very sad. I hopy you feel good about ít.

I moved it to the proper place, see here. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:11, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

The DVD: https://www.saraiva.com.br/planet-pop-festival-live-in-brazil-vol-2-dvd-194789/p

Abramoff is the name of the singer, because the group started a solo carrear. I wanted to write " Recent", but i didnt have a change. I am asking for helt to recover the memory of the band.

I am available to gather the print news with our fan members and send to Wikipedia.

We just dont have knowhoe to insert the information right.

GA Pop Dance, Right but the issue is that the news sources only focus on her recent career. This does not show that the band itself is notable. She gained notability after the band. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:17, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
GA Pop Dance, You need to find sources about the band. So, find articles that are in-depth and focus just on the band. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:18, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

I am sorry i messed up the page. I am sorry for the Group and fans. i was just trying to help. But i have no tech skills. It wasnt meant to do any bad. I was trying to update. But i ended up deleting this Memory.

Please let me know what we can do`? How can we recover it? Can we gather the prints? I also think all the information when you google doenst appear to you the way it appears inother country or Brasil.

Please, how should we proceed?GA Pop Dance (talk) 22:22, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

GA Pop Dance, there's no need to apologize. You're trying to save the article of a band you like, I get it. While we'd prefer online sources, prints are valid as well. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:25, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

I will scan the prints i have and ask the members for all the have from magazines.

The Band was the number one Dance Music Band. I sent the link with all Main Radio Stations CDs. The major Radios.

I will gather it and check how can i proove it.GA Pop Dance (talk) 22:26, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your patience. Ill try to learn how i can upload the prints. I hope i can save it. All the other artist from this festival are on wikipedia, its all from the same time and sources. Dalimas. Kasino , Lasgo at the Planet Pop Festival in Brasilian were very special. Thank you anyway.GA Pop Dance (talk) 22:32, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Are you serious or just drunk?

It's a non-existent condition that has been come up with for the sole purpose of causing harm to people with mental health conditions and disabilities. If you have a problem with the qualifcation then feel free to discuss as to why that's the case, otherwise, please stop reverting the facts.

Even the article itself implies exactly what I am saying --120.22.148.20 (talk) 04:47, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi IP and welcome to Wikipedia. Please explicitly read the tag you are adding to this article. Just because something is controversial doesn't mean it's an "attack." There is even a whole section on controversies and in the lead, it even says it's controversial and not considered legit. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:49, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
Look, if you had the benefit of the foresight of the changes that are happening as we speak in mental health and disability and the UTTER rebuke from a large percentage of the community at large, and those outside of it, such as the family of Elijah McClain you would know exactly where I'm going with this.
Future perspectives on this matter will have forced medication, especially with drugs like Ketamine looked upon under the same light as trying to charge a gay person with sodomy in a modern democratic country and if you can't wrap your head around that then you have no business making administrative decisions in that section.
If I make a point about being nuisance value on this matter then perhaps you should look upon the great kings of men like Martin Luther King and what they have had to say about getting arrested and how being arrested is the ultimate vindication of the purpose of the law by shining a light on the place of bad laws in society. And if you're having trouble understanding any of those concepts I've also included links you can click on for further information.
By the way, not all IPs are dumb people... and I don't need to be welcomed to Wikipedia, or the sandbox. This kind of attitude is exactly why I don't have an account. --120.22.27.225 (talk) 04:28, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Again, this has nothing to do with my personal beliefs and everything to do with the definition of an attack by Wikipedia standards. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:39, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Joel Farabee

Hi, HickoryOughtShirt?4. I reviewed Joel Farabee for DYK - fun article, made me feel old. So, I didn't see your QPQ review. I'm new enough to the DYK process (and the templates and pages are opaque enough) that I likely missed something. Or, you might be planning that later. I saved the template here. Can you either point me to what I missed, or let me know when you finish the QPQ and I can give it the green check mark? Thanks - enjoyed your article. Moishe Rosenbaum (talk) 02:10, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Or, I realize I might be missing something about procedure - I've reviewed DYKs, but I've not reviewed a good article cum DYK. Is a good article exempt from the QPQ requirement? Not sure. Please let me know!Moishe Rosenbaum (talk) 02:12, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Note Veo ( Gabriel Freyre)

Why do U discard my work like this without giving me a chance to correct it? I am not a company, nor do I work for anyone. These manners of functioning do not help new editors nor Wikipedia. Wikipedia won’t survive another twenty years with moderators like you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Note Veo (talkcontribs) 03:15, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Note Veo Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia. I disagree, I think stopping paid editing or promotional editing is very important to keeping Wikipedia functioning. You have to admit it’s odd that those professional photos were added when you happen to write the article. Are you in any way in contact with this person? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:26, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

So you're setting yourself up as the savior of Wikipedia?

Why do you say "paid editing or promotional editing"? You are prejudging. Although I have known the guy, indeed ... Probably no one knows him better than me. What's wrong with that? We haven't spoken for more than 10 years.

and I took the photos from the web that says here: https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/os-xpm-2001-04-22-0104200489-story.html

Hi there Note Veo, as an administrator it is my job to investigate paid and promotional editing. While Wikipedia is the encyclopedia anyone can edit, it would be mayhem without rules and regulations. This is why guidelines like WP:COI exist, to keep Wikipedia neutral and valid. When someone who is directly connected to a person creates an article for them, it can be promotional (without intention) and challenges the view that Wikipedia is a neutral source. This is why I was concerned with your editing. Similarly, if you mean to say you took the photos from a newspaper, you cannot do that without explicit copyright permission from the photographer. `HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:11, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Note Veo The article currently sitting in your draft is not at all neutrally worded. Writing an article is hard, heck I didn't write my first article on Wikipedia for three months! I suggest checking our similar articles and reading WP:YFA for tips and guidelines. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:14, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Thought bring here quickly so don't go more into the discussion just around her article but you are welcome to email me, my email is attached to this account. Happy to advise I'm not this person she thinks I am. NZFC(talk)(cont) 09:18, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

NZFC, Smart, sending now. I personally really hope she's drunk or something (her spelling is awful) and she comes to her senses soon. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 09:22, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
HickoryOughtShirt?4 got it thanks. I actually have no idea who that is either, never heard of, and I ain't them. Yeah I had notice that, I'm not sure it is drunk, I think it maybe when she gets so angry she can't spell. Same thing happens to the editors on her page. NZFC(talk)(cont) 09:30, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Sorry one more thing, think you might find this article interesting. David Farrier I find is a very good journalist. NZFC(talk)(cont) 10:02, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
NZFC, Maybe she'll leave us alone now [1]. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:54, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh way, that's new level crazy! NZFC(talk)(cont) 18:30, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
HickoryOughtShirt?4 Thought you might be interested in this [2] NZFC(talk)(cont) 01:36, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
NZFC, I feel like I'm missing something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:04, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
As far as I can tell. She really believes that the people that are editing the article are connected to her. Harvey Weinstein through people he has hired, attacking her. People like who I was accused of being etc. So she tried our own Police to get them to look into the Wikipedia editing here. NZFC(talk)(cont) 02:08, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
Ohh, ya I saw that. The link you gave me linked to here probably because I have her blocked. This is becoming such a bigger deal than it needs to be but I am not surprised she's trying to involve the PM. There are much bigger issues but if I get a free trip to NZ for the trial, sign me up . HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:12, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Oops sorry yeah can see how that was weird. I've got another question for you, with the original article deleted, then it was recreated under Anna Wilding (Director) before that was moved over to what the old one was. It appears all the previous edit history and talk page conversations from that first one has gone. As an admin, do you have a way to see it? If it is even still there? Reason I ask is I notice this edit summary in the first deletion discussion and wondered if it is similar to what I'm trying to write-up on her talk page now. NZFC(talk)(cont) 06:08, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

NZFC, I can email you it. It seems this harassment dates back to 2007 as well. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:30, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
HickoryOughtShirt?4 Oh wow, just went to start reading and didn't realise just how massive the email is... This should be interesting. NZFC(talk)(cont) 19:40, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Deletion of Lobos 1707

Hi! I'm writing here to see if you would reconsider the deletion of my page for Lobos 1707. I think I made a mistake in citing the company website too many times just because it was easy to find a lot of information there that was interesting. I'm going to update my sources to more reliable, independent sources! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TroyCaliLA (talkcontribs) 22:20, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi TroyCaliLA, can I ask if you are in any way connected to Lobos 1707? I ask this because all of your edits this year have revolved around it and most people are not focused on a specific business. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:51, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi HickoryOughtShirt?4, No, I don't! I'm just interested in the brand as a big fan of LeBron and tried the tequila recently because of that. Tastes great and was surprised there wasn't already a page up for it.
Hi TroyCaliLA, I see you reposted (a much better version) of Lobos 1707. Feel free to message me if you have any editing questions . As well, please end your sentences with four tidals (~) as this adds a signature. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:00, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
