Mariahu
On the page mariahu , first of all I want to tell you it's mariyahu . Secondly there is a firm called Hindustan cycle repairing shop , formed before the independence of India . So I thought it should be on the page.76 years old firm it is. Else if you want I can give you pictures of that . It's not a spamming business. Decostacbposta (talk) 23:52, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Decostacbposta: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Please note that businesses are not added to Wikipedia pages unless they pass our WP:Notability guidelines. I considered it spamming since you added it to the categories section of the page, where it did not belong, and another place on the page that I have fully deleted for being not sourced and just a mess. Please do not re-add this business unless it has a Wikipedia page. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:55, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
Spam links
why you remove — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gkblogs (talk • contribs) 03:36, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Gkblogs: You can't go around spamming your blog. Wikipedia is not a collection of links. See WP:EL and Wikipedia:Spam to learn what are appropriate external links to articles. If you continue to spam, your link will be WP:Blacklisted and you may be blocked. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:39, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Notable alumni, Owatonna High school
Hey there, I was hoping to start a notable alumni page for Owatonna Senior High. I saw you deleted my first listing. I am curious as to what caused you to delete this posting.
- @Probowlqb1: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! I apologize, I meant to send you a message but I got sidetracked. The person you added didn't have a Wikipedia page. In order for someone to be considered a notable alumni they should pass our WP:Notability criteria and have a Wikipedia page. There is a page for Max Fraser but I really don't think this is who you meant. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:26, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
Congrats!
Ah, it's good to see a newer user blessed with much CLUE given a needed (by the community and yourself) advance permission. If I can ever be of assistance, holla! BTW, the article referenced immediately above is a disaster. John from Idegon (talk) 05:01, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- Ha thanks John and wow you're right, there goes the rest of my night. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:02, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
RfA
You might consider it in a few months. I’m normally not s fan of vandal fighters at RfA for several reasons, but you’re generally sane and not part of the bloodlust crowd that sometimes populates AIV and having another admin who is sane in that area would be a plus. I haven’t vetted you too extensively, or anything like that, but it’s just a generic thing to keep in the back of your mind for some point. You might also want to put up some of your hockey articles for GA to show you can create content that passes community assessment. I’m certainly more of a project space admin, but I think having created good articles and featured content (FLs/FLCs) gives me a much better understanding of the encyclopedia personally. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:16, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- @TonyBallioni: Oh my goodness thank you. One of my Wikipedia goals is to get one of the articles I created (likely Quinn Hughes) for GA. I feel I need more experience in more admin areas and I should at least apply for the NPR privilege first (as has been suggested above). It has been in the back of mind since I reached 10 months here (and often when there is a huge backlog at AIV) but I am at least going to wait a year (like you suggest – a few months). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:25, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- I went ahead and gave you NPR. Yeah, waiting at least a year is good for a few reasons. GA actually isn’t that hard to do: it’s like writing a book report from when you were in middle school, the main thing is waiting and then being able to respond to feedback (which is why it is useful for admins to have gone through.) If you were to nominate your best article now, and improve it a bit while waiting for a review, it’d likely pass. Like I said, not something I’ve extensively looked at, but I much prefer people who look at AIV who realize that there is a person behind the vandal account and that kids (most vandals) can make a few dumb mistakes without being evil, which from a look at your talk page I think you get. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:34, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you . Honestly, when I started editing Wikipedia 11 months ago I didn't expect to get this involved but I am glad I did. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:37, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- I was pinged to this discussion; to cut a long story short, as an admin working at AIV you will be doing a lot of blocks, and any mistakes can cause you serious grief, as sometimes you just can't tell if somebody's a vandal, winding us up, or just doesn't understand how Wikipedia works. For example, over on Talk:List of McDonald's products#McPizza is completely discontinued, you've been accused of edit-warring and being unhelpful. Your responses were technically correct, but this isn't some hard-to-grasp scientific term, this is simply a) does McDonalds still do pizza and b) why the Daily Mail is not good enough to use for a source. The editor didn't know how to work
{{cite web}}
and{{cite book}}
, and I can't really blame them for that. You said "You do have a talk page", but since the user thought they didn't, they probably didn't know where it was if you didn't link to it! You'd probably have had an easier time either a) doing a quick Google and drop a source in, and optionally b) if you can't find any suitable online sources, say why the information can't go in. As a basic rule of thumb, you should avoid throwing policy pages at new users like the plague, because they won't thank you for them - you just need to explain things in your own words. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:20, 4 October 2018 (UTC)- Thank you for your input Ritchie333. I absolutely acknowledge I could have handled that situation better and been more helpful. Before I even think about applying for admin I know there are things I need to work on, one of which is responses. Regarding your AIV comments; yes, I have seen instances of such grief, though I do try and stay away from much Wikidrama (much better watching on the sidelines). hello
I am trying to update and correct a bunch of the information that is listed on this page. This is extremely outdated and does not represent factual information about Mr. Speer or his business endeavors. I am not sure if you would like a line by line edit for update, but I would appreciate that everything not be reverted as I am trying to update.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GaetanoM1teach (talk • contribs) 20:22, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
- @GaetanoM1teach: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. It is pretty obvious you have a conflict of interest with this person and are therefore subject to some bias. A key part of Wikipedia is that all content needs to be neutrally worded. Your edits were absolutely inappropriate for Wikipedia as they were not worded neutrally. For example, "Speer quickly found that, unlike the rest of the world he lived in, the business environment felt safe" and just that whole paragraph is just flowery, promotional language with no purpose but to promote the subject. This is better left for his website than Wikipedia. As well, please understand that this article is not owned by Speers and he has no authority or control over it. I encourage you to read over the COI welcome message I have left on your talk page before continuing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:28, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
TJ Leaf Edit
Hello - we got a message that removing the periods from TJ Leaf's name was vandalism. This IP is from the Pacers offices, and TJ indeed spells his name without the periods. Source: http://www.nba.com/players/tj/leaf/1628388 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.43.75.230 (talk) 17:56, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. The reason why I thought it was vandalism was for a few reasons; a) most of the sources in the article spell it with a dot and b) there was no explanation for why the name was being changed. Almost all of the sources in the article spells his name with a dot and we go by what the majority of sources indicate per WP:COMMONNAME even if that contradicts what legal name is. Lastly, please understand as well that if you have a conflict of interest with the subject (which it seems like you do) please do not edit their page directly. I will leave a more lengthy explanation on your WP:talk page but basically people with conflicts of interest may have a hard time writing neutrally and should instead make WP:Edit requests on the talk page. Controversy
I posted the article it is a well known controversy issue lil baby and the musician wali da great are having he has discussed in his album, and instagram please leave the edit and if you want more information let me know removing people's hard work/edits doesn't make wiki a good place for users. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesandei88h (talk • contribs) 00:02, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Jamesandei88h: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. While I appreciate your efforts to improve Wikipedia, we cannot leave contentious unsourced edits on biographies of living peoples pages. Before I warned you, two other editors attempted to explain this but I shall elaborate. The sources you added were merely sources to their SoundCloud. When adding controversial information about a biography of a living person you must use reliable sources. Their Soundcloud isn't a reliable source to show a feud. Please do not add this back until you can find sources that fit under our reliable sources policy. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:05, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
Hello I posted a reference to a world star video that went viral, the soundcloud songs were examples of the convrostery please next time ask what kinda information you need not just to remove it,to fit an agenda this is why people don't like wikipedia or donate to wikipedia due to certain editors have agenda on deciding what should stay or should not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesandei88h (talk • contribs) 00:22, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Jamesandei88h: Hi again. I removed it because those didn't fit out reliable source policy. You linked the music videos, not newspapers or reliable articles that showed this was a big feud that needed to be on a BLP page. I promise I wasn't working with any agenda other than to protect biography of living people from unsourced, contentious statements. I really have no opinion on this person, I don't listen to this type of music. Similarly, I did tell you what kind of information you needed, as did two other people on your talk page, and you were guided to two different pages on how to properly source articles and how we write an article on living people. It was to my understanding you had read the messages and seen the policy. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:27, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Babu Divakaran
Sir,
Why did you revert the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babu_Divakaran As a journalist by profession, I have added a full proof information on the page Babu divakaran. I don't have any relation, connection, vandalism or want to project him etc. The previous article was incomplete and had data till 2010 so I added new information about babu Divakaran and added his new picture also. But you revert it back which was a denial of information to all who trust Wikipedia. Hence humbly request your good self to revert back the page to the edited stage at the earliest.
Thanks
G. Sarath — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarath bg (talk • contribs) 08:21, 19 October 2018 (UTC) 09:24, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Sarath bg: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Firstly, if you don't have any relation with Babu then why did you state here that you personally knew him? [1]. You need to disclose your conflict of interest. Do not ignore the message I sent you about conflict of interest editing. It is becoming very disruptive and if you continue down this path you may be blocked. Since the page is protected, use the WP:talk page to make WP:Edit requests as conflict of interest editors should. I will not reinstate your poorly referenced additions and nor will anyone else. You were warned twice, once on the BLP noticeboard and by Kuru, that the sources you used were not good enough yet you reinstated them anyways. It is important to have properly referenced pages about biographies of living people because if we don't have proof then anyone can add whatever they want, see? We need references to protect the person. You may want to read our reliable sources policy. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 15:31, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
References
Hi, as you can see, I have been working on this article for two days now. At the end, i was going to add my references. Do I really have to add them as soon as I make the changes? I'm still not done with the article, and it's pretty frustrating to see my efforts to contribute to history get shot down like that when I'm STILL IN THE PROCESS of writing the article. It's not like it's an article about Donald Trump or anything. Can't I have time to work on it without you guys tearing it down every minute? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JaredCravens (talk • contribs) 20:13, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- @JaredCravens: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for trying to expand Wikipedia but unfortunately you cannot publish content on Wikipedia without having the citations first. This is all because of our verifiability policy. Don't worry, there is no rush to add content. Why not wait until you've gathered all your sources? You can use your WP:Sandbox to practice. Recent edits to Stikeman Elliott
Hello, as a members of Stikeman Elliott I recently attempted to change the content of the Stikeman Elliott Wikipedia page to better reflect the scope of our Canadian practice and active offices. If this has been flagged due to the language 'a leading..' may I point you to Osler's Wikipedia page which has similar text (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osler,_Hoskin_%26_Harcourt). Also, it is more accurate to mention "seven sisters" in relation to Bay Street, rather than Toronto in general. This update was not intended to be promotional in nature, but rather an update to reflect our business, and for this reason could you kindly revert to my most recent changes.
If you would like to discuss these edits, please contact me at mstrachan@stikeman.com.

- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. It is pretty obvious you have a conflict of interest with this company. Please note that if you have a conflict of interest you should not edit the page directly. If you want to edit the page again you should make WP:Edit requests on the talk page of the article. I left some more advice on your talk page regarding how to move forward with a COI. Please note that continuing to promote this company may result in a block. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:16, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
STAGG MUSIC
I'M THE MARKETING DIRECTOR OF STAGG MUSIC WHICH BELONGS TO EMD MUSIC, BRUSSELS, BELGIUM. I'M SURPRISED YOU HAVE REVERTED THE CHANGES I MADE ABOUT STAGG ON WIKIPEDIA A FEW MONTH AGO. WE ACTUALLY OWN THIS BRAND AND DON'T KNOW WHY IT HAPPENED. YOU CAN VERIFY THIS BY SENDING AN EMAIL INFO@EMDMUSIC.COM BEST REGARDS,
- @CSIMONIS: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm going to first as you not to type in all caps as it seems like you're shouting. Secondly, wow that was all the way back in May but I can still explain now. Your additions were promotional and I left messages on your talk page and your employees(?) talk page regarding the additions saying they were promotional and that was why I reverted them. The brand does not own the page and is not entitled to adding promotional material, save that for your own website. For more information, you can read our policies Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion and how to maintain a neutral point of view. Please follow the guidelines I left on your talk page regarding editing with a conflict of interest and do not attempt to edit the page. You can make WP:Edit requests on the articles talk page if you wish. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:56, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
Remi Broadway
Hi Hickory, I’ll be adding my commentary back in with a more neutral tone. Please note I am also citing news articles. Cheers. DouggieRorza3535 (talk) 07:36, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- @DouggieRorza3535: Hello and thank you for reading our NPOV policy. I apologize for the late message, I must have missed it while on my mobile. I suggest you bring up this contentious event on the articles talk page (Talk:Remi Broadway) as myself and other editors have removed this as possibly having Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons issues. As well, I do not know if 2001:8003:6a68:1100:918:b6cd:985a:14b6 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and 24.78.53.81 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) is you but if it is please know you should only edit from one account (WP:LOGOUT). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:43, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Hi again, I had thought if the edit was supported by a number of news articles detailing the specifics on the current situation that it would be a supported edit? Oh and sorry. unsure who the other users are, but it's become a fairly large talking point in the press at the moment. Hoping we can add this back in soon thanks.
- @DouggieRorza3535: I want you to know I really appreciate you taking the time to understand our policies and I hope we can work together on editing in the future. The reason why this might violate our BLP policies is because of WP:BALASP which is giving too much attention to something that doesn't deserve it. See this specific line in WP:BALASP: "For example, discussion of isolated events, criticisms, or news reports about a subject may be verifiable and impartial, but still disproportionate to their overall significance to the article topic. This is a concern especially in relation to recent events that may be in the news." HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:53, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'd add that there were copyright issues with some of the content that was copied directly from the news article. Speaking of which, another policy that comes to mind is WP:NOTNEWS. For a controversial matter to be published in a bio here, there really has to be substantial coverage by many sources, such that the incident clearly will be more than yesterday's news when people read this next year. 2601:188:180:1481:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 03:57, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Why not eBooks?
Hi,
I'm confused ... if retailers like GameStop and Amazon.com can be mentioned in the "In video gaming" section on the Pre-Orders page, then why can't Fictionwise.com be mentioned in the "In eBooks" section?
How about this? eBook retailer Fictionwise.com sold the first eBook Pre-Order in October 2003: Stephen King's Wolves of the Calla. [[1]]
Thanks.
- @Drj63: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. First of all, the Amazon section is not +3,710 bytes and does not go into nearly as much detail as you did. This seems like far too much for a page that is not even on this company. As well, the source you used just showed they exist and did not back up your claims. Maybe a sentence or two but not +3,710 bytes. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:56, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Yes I think the above sentence is good. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:56, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Drj63: But to show you are not just promoting this company try and do what the "In video gaming" section did and expand. Don't just focus on one company.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:00, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Jason Lewis
You wrongly marked an account I have as COI. I am an avid supporter of Congressman Lewis an saw that someone added and then subsequently had content removed several times. The content was factual and not heresy or opinions as is some other information on the page added by other users. Why should this information not be allowed?
- @HoldenontheHill: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Would you in any chance be connected to TheHill? To answer your question, I suggest you read WP:RSPRIMARY to understand that "Wikipedia articles should be based mainly on reliable secondary sources." All the sources were primary ones. The page has since been protected so if you would like to edit it, you need to make WP:Edit requests on Talk:Jason Lewis (Minnesota politician).HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:15, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Hickoryoughtshirt?4: Thanks. I am not. And ok, I will find secondary sources. Additionally, the WP:RSPRIMARY does say that primary sources are used for facts. Much of the edits were fact based: "Lewis supported" and the roll call of votes clearly shows the member voting in the affirmative; or, Lewis authored and the link clearly has him listed as an author and quotes the attached summary.
I will admit, I am new to Wikipedia. I appreciate the assistance. I will send you edits to be added in the future for this and other pages.
- @HoldenontheHill: Alright, thank you. Yes while it does say primary sources are okay it does say "Although specific facts may be taken from primary sources, secondary sources that present the same material are preferred." I am going to place a welcome message on your talk page with some links to help guide you through Wikipedia. Do not be afraid to ask me more questions regarding editing Wikipedia or if you are more comfortable you can also check out WP:TEAHOUSE which is a question forum for new editors. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:31, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- One more thing, please send the edits to be added to Talk:Jason Lewis (Minnesota politician) and not to my page. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:34, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
Northbridge Athletics
Hi,
I am trying to make this wiki page more interactive and detailed for my school as part of a school project.
All member that I am writing about are seniors, meaning they are above the age of 18.
I am a beginner editor, and I believe that these sources are accurate. Heck, I even have video proof of what I am saying! — Preceding unsigned comment added by BoboGogo6969 (talk • contribs) 01:37, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Regardless if they are over 18 (not all seniors are over 18 by the way – I wasn't), this is wayyyyyy too much weight for an article on the school. Why is the 2018-19 roster (which isn't even set yet!) getting so much attention, especially these two players? Regardless of how good they are, this is unnecessary and too much weight for a school article. As has been pointed to you before, check out WP:WEIGHT and WP:BALASP. As well, you are falsifying the sources you use. Your first edit says the roster wasn't finalized [2] and then your second edit (using the 'same source) [3] says it was. Regardless, this is all too much weight, not enough balance. Save this all for your school's newspaper, not the Wikipedia article. You may want to consult with your teacher on the Wikipedia practices listed above. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:46, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Look here,
I have been trying to do this in a correct way. I keep on getting whole portions of my Wiki article taken down for some portions of my writing that was incorrect or weighted improperly. Can you refrain from taking down my whole write-up just because one fact was not cited properly, or is that not how Wiki editing works? I read up on weight and balance, but if these players were statistically the best players in their position, would I be incorrect for describing them like that? I am currently working on a edit for the coach that I hope will get posted following all the guidelines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BoboGogo6969 (talk • contribs) 01:53, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- @BoboGogo6969: I don't think you are understanding me. How can you read our weight and balance policies and still think +1,000 bytes on a not yet finalized 2018-19 basketball roster and two players is okay for an article about an entire school? There is nothing on academics, other sports etc. just the 2018-19 roster that is in pre-season form. It is not necessary for an article on the school to talk about how great these high school basketball players are or how they may help the team be successful. Regarding editing, I suggest you use the WP:Sandbox to practice editing rather than on the article itself and maybe consult with your teacher before adding it in. I am going to ping a more experienced editor in school-related subjects John from Idegon who may be able to offer up some more advice (if he's online). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:00, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Hi,
Do you think it would be possible to make a Northbridge Athletics wiki page? The town has a rich history with sports and several developed sports programs. I cannot make a page myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BoboGogo6969 (talk • contribs) 02:03, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- @BoboGogo6969: I don't think that is very popular for high schools (usually only universities) but you can create a section on "Extracurricular activities". You should speak about them in general (but mention what makes them notable) and not go into too much detail about specific people. We don't mention specific students unless they are notable already (notable as in pass our WP:Notability policy). You may want to read over Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines for tips on how to write about schools and make sure there are enough reliable sources.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:15, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
That is a good idea. I will edit this sometime tomorrow. I will try and be more general about the players, and how can I cite sources about a topic (like mine) that doesn't go to in-depth without using video and such? It is the only resource I have at my hands. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BoboGogo6969 (talk • contribs) 02:26, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- @BoboGogo6969: You can try looking online or use offline sources like books or newspapers (just follow Template:Cite book or Template:Cite news) if that is easier. You may want to consult your school librarian. Maybe your school has an online archive? If the video is posted online by the school's official website it is alright but we prefer to have secondary sources. As well, you cannot post information that is not verifiable so while that may restrict what you write, really only notable clubs should even be mentioned so.... HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:39, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- I left a lengthy message on his talk. There are only a few articles on high school athletic programs (less than 10), and they are all on schools that have had books written about their athletic programs. I cannot see how one on this school would ever be viable. John from Idegon (talk) 05:21, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
