Robert Mustard

I think an article on Robert Mustard is a great addition. Couple of warnings/suggestions - right now it reads a little too much like an essay rather than an encyclopedia. There are no references which are a definite requirement and the article overuses titles. Please take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts for guidelines. Thank you Peter. I am new to contributing to wikipedia and I found the platform difficult and complicated, may be its just me. How can I improve the article? The lack of references is due to the fact that the article was pieced together from a long interview I conducted a few years back.. It was only partly published in a martial arts magazine and the parts published would not cover the whole article. so what shall I do re: references? I have looked a the guideline on the page you mentioned and it seems so long its almost prohibitive to contribution. Where do I start?--Aikidude75 (talk) 14:20, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I had a long answer that just got lost because of an edit conflict. For technical issues I will help so no worries. Use Gozo Shioda as a good example, Kenji Tomiki is shorted so maybe that would be a better template. You must have at least one reference fro living people or there will be a deletion. Don't have to cover everything with references (articles are expected to grow) but more than one does help to establish notability. You can even use Angry White Pyjamas (I know, I know). I would try and cut back on the essay feel to the article, drop the titles and some of the peacock terms.Peter Rehse (talk) 14:31, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peter I Have rewritten the article and hopefully it reads more as an article now.. I have added a reference list.. but struggled with the format. But at least I have a few listed down, will have to figure it out another time. -- Thank you Rankersbo, I am unsure how to provide third party reliable sources for martial artists, significant news papers don't tend to write about even the most distinguished martial artists. Robert Mustard (martial artist)

Congrats - the article looks very good. I did some small changes including the categorization and my personal advice is to monitor the article for a bit since challenges to inclusion will come up - nature of the beast I am afraid. If you are looking for articles to write I would love to see one of Takeshi Kimeda who I think is hugely important in Yoshinkan. A little bit of a background is that I do a different style of Aikido but the dojo I ran in Himeji Japan had special sessions where I invited instructors from different styles to come together and teach in one session. That included Michael Kimeda (son of the above) and I did train at Young Street Toronto during visits. I do Shodokan aikido but if I didn't have that Yoshinkan would be my choice.
