AfC notification: Draft:Estefanía Soto has a new comment
[edit]- Hi! Thank you for your feedback. This is the first time that I write a draft for an article on Wikipedia, which is why some of the points you expose are not clear to me. I’d appreciate some guidance.
- On your first note, I believe someone from The Netherlands tried creating an article before but was rejected due to lack of references. Is there any action I should take on that redirection? Regarding your second comment, should I replace every “Estefanía” entry with “Soto”?
- Lastly, on the relationship between writer and subject, I am part of Estefanía’s work team, which works under the “HelloEstefania” name (hello@estefaniasoto.com). I’m in charge of developing her profile in several platforms (such as Wikipedia). I also have a camera I bring with me for content creation when I accompany her in her daily activities. The submitted photos were taken by me.
- If there is anything else to improve, I’d appreciate more feedback. We just want people to be able to count with Wikipedia as a main reference to know more about Estefania’s trajectory. HelloEstefania (talk) 19:11, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your candor. You ask at least one non-trivial question; however, before answering it, I'll say this. It's clear that in one way or another you are paid to write about her. Please read Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure, very carefully. Make sure that you understand it. If you have any question about what any of it means or about any of its implications, please ask at WP:Teahouse. And one more thing: You say you're charged with developing a person's profile in Wikipedia. This probably means presenting her story about herself. But that's not what Wikipedia is for; and if the draft is accepted as an article, what happens thereafter will be out of your, her, and her company's hands. (All you and she will be able to do is make suggestions from the sidelines.) See Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and, for more detail, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest; and also Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. -- Hoary (talk) 06:08, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hurray! Considering the assumptions, warnings, and references shared, there shouldn’t be any issues with the pre and post authorization process. I salute your impressive and vehement input on making sure things are done the right way. I’m sure the community perceives your efforts as much as I do. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, HelloEstefania. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Estefanía Soto, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Please make the required declaration either on your user page or on the draft page. We see that you have complied with the spirit of the rules by making a statement; now please comply with the letter as to how the statement should be made.
