Hi. The bot made a mess, doubling the 22, and you came to the rescue, but the online source doesn't contain any indication of a "No. 4" either, so where did you take it from if I may ask? Cheers, Arminden (talk) 19:49, 8 April 2023 (UTC)

Do you know offhand where I could call attention to this list? XOR'easter (talk) 14:11, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Not really... maybe WP:AWBREQ? Maybe Help talk:CS1? Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 21:39, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

AAlertBot: Updating article alerts failure

AAlertBot's task "Updating article alerts" failed to run per the configuration specified at Wikipedia:Bot activity monitor/Configurations. Detected only 0 edits in the last 1 day, whereas at least 10 were expected. If/when the issue is fixed, please change the section title (e.g. append " - Fixed") or remove this section completely. When that is done, this notice will be reposted if the bot task is still broken or is re-broken. If your bot is behaving as expected, then you may want to modify the task configuration instead. Or to unsubscribe from bot failure notifications, remove the |notify= parameter from the {{/task}} template. Thanks! – SDZeroBot (talk) 07:21, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

WD:CRAP

Hi Headbomb,

I want to invite you to a little weekly Friday meeting with SJ/HareJ/Iffy/SuperHamster/Me about this:

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_Source_Reliability

Can you email me at jorlowitz@gmail.com

Thanks!

Jake Ocaasi t | c 17:36, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

@Ocaasi: Fridays are very busy days for me normally. I would need to know the exact time before I can commit to this. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 23:34, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
It's an open, no pressure invitation. Right now we already meet 9am Pacific U.S. Time. You can join if/whenever you can/choose. Also we have a chat, project page, etc for asynchronous contributions. Ocaasi t | c 00:47, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
@Ocaasi: Yeah, I'll be working at that time, so I couldn't meet. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 00:49, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
No problem! Would you take a look through WD:CRAP and leave a comment on the talk page about whether or not your unreliable tools could engage with the project? Ocaasi t | c 13:23, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

On removed sources

Greetings, few days ago you removed 2 sources for Pakistan in the "Average human height by country" page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_human_height_by_country).

At first I didn't understand as I thought that in both cases the academics were "legitimate" but then I found out it was more about the publishers than the authors of the research article.

Yet, 2 points :

1) of the 2 sources, only the "Pakistan - Punjab" had a predatory journal, not the "Pakistan - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" one, after verification, so perhaps it could have remained there ?

2) I've found a more credible source for "Pakistan - Punjab", so perhaps it could replace the former one ?

PakistanPunjab||173.42 cm (5 ft 8+12 in) || 162.08 cm (5 ft 4 in)|| 1.07 || 16–35 (N= m:100 f:100) || data-sort-value="" style="background: var(--background-color-interactive, #ececec); color: var(--color-base, inherit); vertical-align: middle; text-align: center; " class="table-na" | — || Measured || 2021 || [1]

  1. ^ Asghar MJ, Butt M, Akbar A, Azam H, Zahra I, Waseem MS, Malik A. "Stature prediction of Punjab population (Pakistan) from hand, forearm and foot measurements". Biological and Clinical Sciences Research Journal. 2 (1).

It has citations (7) & references (19), including in the following research article :

"[...]The mean height of the Pakistan Punjabi population is shown to be 173.42 cm for males and 162.08 cm for females[...]"

Link of the citation : https://www.researchgate.net/publication/368392116_Determination_of_stature_from_handprint_anthropometry_among_Malaysian_Indians_for_person_identification

So I was wondering if now the 2 sources could be reinstated.

Thanks for your understanding. 2A02:A03F:6500:CF00:497B:5345:939D:FEE8 (talk) 20:19, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

  • Concerning the old sources: International Journal of Scientific & Technology Research used for "Pakistan - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" is a predatory journal. Feel free to search [1] for it. (The other one, International Journal of Forensic Sciences from Medwin is also clearly from a predatory publisher.)
  • Concerning the new sources: The first is from Biological and Clinical Sciences Research Journal, which looks like a fairly dubious journal, advertising trivial/shady indexing services. The second is from GAP Indian Journal of Forensics and Behavioural Sciences (doi:10.47968/gapijfbs.41002 which doesn't look much better. I don't know that they're predatory per se, but they really don't look like established reputable journals to me. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 01:28, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
    Greetings I think I know I see the angle, I still thought it was a missed opportunity as the authors are respected academics in the country (attached to respected national institutions) and so their on-field work seems to have been lost in a way but I guess they didn't get the whole concept of predatory journals, anyway thanks for taking you time. 2A02:A03F:6504:1700:E473:5BF8:E8F4:6B01 (talk) 12:25, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
    Greetins I posted this on the average height main page but repost there so it can grab your attention thank you
    "Hi, I think I finally found a good source, at least for "Pakistan - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa",
    | PakistanKhyber Pakhtunkhwa||173.7 cm (5 ft 8+12 in) || 164.6 cm (5 ft 5 in)|| 1.04 || 18–21 (N= m:108 f:86) || data-sort-value="" style="background: var(--background-color-interactive, #ececec); color: var(--color-base, inherit); vertical-align: middle; text-align: center; " class="table-na" | — || Measured || 2017 || [1]

  • This journal is referenced on the famous "SCImago Journal Rank" which shows its credibility and it says at the end of the article "this study can be generalized upon the young adult population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa"
    So I think we could replace the old data (from the "predatory journal") with this one." 2A02:A03F:6504:1700:9DEA:8E74:E543:560D (talk) 11:36, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Plant-induced systemic resistance

Hello again Headbomb. You've moved into edit warring [2] in crop pathology articles in general because I've edited them. This follows your long term disruptive editing at Agriculture in California. Unfortunately you have admin support (especially Randykitty) for this disruptive editing pattern. Unfortunately for you you lack WP:COMPETENCE and crop pathology isn't an easy subject. You won't be able to guess what a better ref, free of reputation issues is.

Worse, in your haste for conflict you have forgotten what decade means. That source obviously doesn't pertain to the text. Invasive Spices (talk) 14:36, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

I've done no such thing. Now, for the billionth time, go away. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 00:25, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
