Hello
[edit]Ta-da, found you! As I said, let me know when's good for you. Olaf Davis (talk) 10:16, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- I've given a deeply insightful reply on my talk page. I'll warn you now that I tend to reply to messages at the location they were given (so conversations don't get fragmented), but some people reply on the sender's page (so people always get the 'new messages' box, which only happens when the message is on your own talk page). This is all part of the wonderful diversity which makes Wikipedia great.[citation needed] Olaf Davis (talk) 19:17, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Useful pages
[edit]As discussed - you can store them on your user page or wherever you like.
- Wikipedia:Help desk - for any general questions, including where to find more specific help
- Wikipedia:New contributors' help page - as above for new editors
- Wikipedia:Cheatsheet - basic formatting summary
- Wikipedia:Editor's index to Wikipedia - more extensive index of topics
- Wikipedia:Citing sources - mechanics of footnotes and reference sections
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style and the various subpages listed on the right for how to lay out different article types
- Wikipedia:Featured articles - examples of how the ideal article looks!
In general if you want help on a topic - say, beans - a good first try is to go to Wikipedia:beans (or equivalently WP:beans). But pretend I didn't show you that one! Olaf Davis (talk) 18:46, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Likewise e.g. Template:Citation needed for templates. Olaf Davis (talk) 18:50, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
A lot of these have shortcuts too - e.g. WP:CITE. Olaf Davis (talk) 18:52, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
