Information icon Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Drugstore Cowboy, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 14:39, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Woodroar My source is an image, how do I add it? Hardy3628 (talk) 04:14, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Hardy3628, I'm just seeing this message now. I'm sorry but I had to revert your edit at Shane Carruth again. We don't allow primary sources (like public documents) or self-published sources (like random tweets) to source controversial information about living persons. Our policy on content about living persons is very strict, particularly for names and dates of birth, as outlined at WP:BLPPRIVACY. That type of information either needs to be widely published in reliable sources or directly from the person on their website or verified social media. (Other than Twitter, since their recent verification changes.) Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! Woodroar (talk) 12:29, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Woodroar It isn't technically from Twitter. Twitter just happened to be where I first came across the Sheriff Dept Document on Carruth, which document mentions the birthdate clearly. The tweet's words themselves say nothing about his DOB. Maybe you could try and find this document elsewhere? Hardy3628 (talk) 12:57, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What's important is that it's a public document, a primary source, so not usable for this purpose. (That includes arrest records, court transcripts, legal filings, financial filings, etc.) The DOB would need to be widely published in reliable, secondary sources or by Carruth himself. Woodroar (talk) 13:12, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Woodroar Got it. Were you aware of the doc or dob though? Hardy3628 (talk) 05:02, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, ever since the arrest his DOB and middle name get added now and then, and we have to remove it. Sometimes the arrest record is cited directly, or someone who tweeted it, and I believe screenshots are on IMGUR or something, too. As far as I know, reliable sources haven't started publishing the date or middle name yet—but I always like to ask for sources in case that's changed.
