Why oh why?

[edit]

That TTN is really starting to tick me off now, did you see what he did? Tagging Grimm's article for deletion, and called him a minor espada. I swear that guy needs his eyes checked.. Shall we wait until YnHockey comes back online to help us resolve this dilemma? Also, check the thing I left in the talk page of "List of Bleach Characters"

Inclusionist vs. deletionism

[edit]

Hi, is there a particular reason why you switched from being a stauch inclusionist in the past (for fiction-related articles) to a staunch deletionist in the present? I'm just curious. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 17:19, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know, the inclusion criterion for Wikipedia is verifiability, not notability. The idea is that if there are sufficient secondary sources for something, it can be included. With Bleach, we won't get any secondary sources, ever, except possibly for the main article, because even most real-world sources are still close to the makers of Bleach (and its child products) and are therefore primary. Therefore, by that logic, everything should be merged into the main article (Bleach (manga)), which has secondary sources. However, there are WP:SIZE concerns and therefore the articles must be split. Because Wikipedia aims to be the sum of all human knowledge, it is possible to create articles for subjects which have reliable primary sources, such as individual fictional characters. Notability doesn't even come into it. It's basically a combination of WP:SIZE and WP:V - if the information is verifiable (again, real-world sources are usually still primary for Bleach, therefore they are on par with in-universe sources as far as WP:V and WP:RS go), then it goes into a generic article (like a list). Then, per WP:SIZE, the list can be split into as many separate articles as we see fit, and that's all there is to it. WP:FICT is a lame guideline (not a policy!), and people know that, that's why its status is constantly under dispute. I urge you to reconsider your stance in general and support the splitting of certain major characters per WP:SIZE. BTW, I won't be able to reply for the next 3 weeks or so, so please don't think I am ignoring you if you reply to my talk page. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 11:34, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Urahara.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Urahara.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. List of Bleach locations

[edit]

I haven't been around for nearly a month because of army issues, but now read about your proposal to create an article 'List of Bleach locations', and really liked the idea. Is there any progress on this or did you bring up the idea in hopes that another editor might create such an article? I volunteer to create it next weekend, but hopefully it can be done before that. Can you elaborate? Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 20:38, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most people didn't see it your way because they probably don't read other peoples' comments much, and someone did refer to your suggestion anyway. The main thing is that no one directly opposed your suggestion, and as long as that's true, there's no reason why you shouldn't implement it. At worst, the article will be deleted. I urge you to start work on a List of Bleach locations article. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 17:37, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Luppi.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Luppi.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 12:48, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Reference

[edit]

Hiya! Yeah, this one's tricky. I found explicit age references exist for everybody's first appearance except Makoto; didn't get her until she's 15. But that's okay, since everyone else is 15 then too, and she show's up when they're all 14. Oh, we also don't have Pluto, because she's shrouded in mystery and all that.

To answer your other question, the way that we know how much time passes is from Usagi; she says she's 14 at the start of the series, and she says she's 16 at the end. Very handy little benchmark. :) --Masamage 20:55, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not speculation

[edit]

While the argument can be made that him being 9th Division Captain is speculation, it is undeniable that he heads either 9th or 11th. When the captains are in formation the odd numbered ones are on one side and the even numbered ones are on the other. And because he is on the odd side it is fact that he heads either 9th or 11th. —Preceding unsigned comment added by B the Blue (talkcontribs) 06:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any good reason to keep it in? Only one of those facts were sourced, him being an "unofficial leader" is not and can never be sourced and violates WP:OR and/or WP:NPOV. Additionally, they are ALL captains. When you say he is a "strong combatant", that has to be in reference to something. There is no indication that he is any stronger than anyone else. I will, once again, remove that information in a bit without a clear rationale. Thanks. erc talk/contribs 07:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree to removing the unofficial leader thing, Shinji is implied to be very powerful, as the vizards said something about Ichigo being unwise to battle Shinji. Plus, being a former captain and all, seeing as the vizard actually said something like that shows how powerful Shinji is. The measure in power is a valid point, and so I think it should be included.--Hanaichi 07:17, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but they also said that Ichigo wasn't being serious either. Do you see my point? That's just POV-pushing by people who want to say that Hirako is awesome. We don't need to speculate on whether he is awesome or not. We just need to wait a bit and then we can get definitive answers. We shouldn't put unverifiable information on wiki. erc talk/contribs 07:19, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops, forgot about Ichigo not being serious either. My point is not about saying how awesome Shiji is, but rather to indicate some sort of his measure of power. However, despite Ichigo holding back due to the fear of his hollow surfacing, the later fight between Grimmjow and Shinji proves how powerful Shinji is, because Ichigo couldn't defeat Grimmjow until his power growth later but Shinji could blast Grimmjow out of the way with his cero. Its like the statement at Yamamoto, as he is "considered to be the strongest captain" and is "also able to fight on par with two of the most powerful captains" and the statements arent cited.--Hanaichi 07:40, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind putting in measures of Hirako's power, but I don't think that specific incident tells us anything, especially when people on both sides are saying how strong the other is. I'm going to go ahead and remove it again. Feel free to add in the thing about Shinji owning Grimmjow, as that is something objective. erc talk/contribs 07:46, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Still don't think that its original research

[edit]

Visual conformation? Them standing in formation IS visual conformation, you seem to be waiting for verbal conformation. Going by the logic you and Rogue are using we can't even say that Kensei is a captain. Why? Because nobody has called him Captain, just because we see him walking around in a captains uniform might not mean anything. The fact that he is in a captain's uniform is VISUAL evidance that he is a captain. The fact that he is standing in formation in the 9th Division spot is VISUAL evidance. At the very least on the Vizard page it needs to be said that he is etheir 9th or 11th. —Preceding unsigned comment added by B the Blue (talkcontribs) 17:09, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Locations

[edit]

Actually, a lot of the reason I didn't mind that deletion too much was that, when you look at it, there really isn't a lot to say about the different locations. All of them are specific to one story arc or to one character, and thus can be covered in those locations.

For instance, Hikawa Shrine has already been worked into Sailor Mars's article, the Space-Time Door has always been covered at Sailor Pluto, List of minor Sailor Moon characters says everything we know about the dead Senshi's planets, Black Moon Clan and Sailor Moon R are both good candidates for discussing Nemesis, and Silver Millennium talks all about the different Moon Kingdoms as well as the Senshi's castles.

Anything else can be worked in somewhere similar, too. As far as I can tell, the only thing we've really lost from that article is the listing of all the characters who go to Azabu Juuban. On the other hand, which fun, that kind of list isn't actually useful for anything and so probably counts as fancruft. --Masamage 04:48, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of elc International school, urgent

[edit]

Hey, a couple days ago you contested against User:Avraham that elc International school is not a notable school. Officials from the school has contacted me about the article and that they would like it removed, otherwise as a student I might be well..sought after. Could you please remove it ASAP? Thanks, --Hanaichi 10:50, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry but I am not able to unilaterally delete an article on what appears to be a notable organisation. If there is anything that is inaccurate then it will be fixed immediately. Meanwhile I have thinned out the discipline section which is the only part that it seems objection could be raised about. TerriersFan (talk) 15:07, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Saito and Okita.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

About "Ueko Mundo"

[edit]

Sorry, I posted this on the main BLEACH talk-page first, put realized you might have meant "discuss on your talk-page." I hope I've not broken any rules. Anyway, I corrected the rōmaji for ウェコムンド to Weko Mundo instead of Ueko Mundo because the former is the correct transcription of ウェコムンド: the vowel u (ウ) + a small form of another vowel (here, ェ, small form of エ e) causes u to be pronounced like w. Check the "Table of" section of the Katakana page to confirm this. In summation, the reading Weko of ウェコ is the correct one. Adam Restling (talk) 13:33, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you have the wrong image for shukuchi. The image you uploaded was when Sojiro was still a few steps shy of shukuchi, which he uses at the very end against Kenshin's Amakakeru ryu no Hirameki.
