Dear Hammer-Sabrine,
Thank you for your interest in this article. Can i make some remarks?
1. You added too many and bare links, which violate the layout. If you want to keep some of them, they could and should be couched in references using Template:Cite web, for instance. Compare with say Licínio Azevedo, or any other article using this template. (You can view the coding by just pressing the Edit button and not saving anything if you don't intend to.) Your links:
- GONE AND NEVER BACK: Le voile de l’oppression
- MaiEkhou.com
- Fierté et réalité du cinéma mauritanien
- Hollywood Las Vegas Film Festival
- African women in cinema
- Luxor African film festival. 2016
- 2017
- Embora pra Sempre
- lensculture
Isn't this a better reference: https://africultures.com/personnes/?no=53660 ?
2. Can we prove with a reliable source (not some blog or self-published text) that Ekhou won an award and so is of encyclopedic value?
3. Then it is still better to first start a separate biographical Wikipedia article on Mai Ekhou, before adding her to the overview article Cinema of Africa, you agree?
4. Your wording was that of a hard sell of Ekhou, is that appropriate for an encyclopedia?
Thank you, Cheers, Hansmuller (talk) 11:01, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

Cinema of Africa (2)
[edit]Dear Hammer-Sabrine,
Thank you for the improvements you made to your biography of Mauritanian film director Mai Ekhou, using templates and more. Can i make some further remarks?
- The article Cinema of Africa is intended as a balanced overview article, for the most famous filmmakers. Therefore, we should not accommodate all upcoming interesting filmmakers in the main text. (But we could list them in the section Cinema_of_Africa#Directors_by_country if they are of encyclopedic value). For an encyclopedia, it works best to first give personalities their own separate and dedicated biography, before mentioning them succinctly in an overview article. Rungano Nyoni for instance got four lines. Jimmy Wales, one of the founders of Wikipedia, was inspired by the Encyclopedia Brittanica, still more expert and stylistically superior than this Wikipedia. The Brittanica wouldn't put a person's whole biography in an overview.
- So isn't it better to first start a separate biography for Mai Ekhou, before we perhaps might mention her briefly on the overview page, you agree?
- I removed the Ekhou section from Cinema of Africa and save the latest version below.
Thank you for your interest and your work, Cheers, Hansmuller (talk) 10:57, 15 February 2024 (UTC):
