Comment about your edits to airports

You seem to be changing instances of Montréal all over the place. But I have reverted your edits due to your inconsistency. The inconsistency is that you've ignored San José, Cancún and others. --Inetpup 02:32, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been told multiple times why your edits violate the manual of style. If you persist in this manner, you may be blocked for tendentious editing behaviour. Please cease this useless scheme - you will always be reverted and you're on a fast track to not being able to edit at all. I don't want to have to do that. Hi Habs4ever, I've got to say that I'm with you on your position and applaude your efforts. Though I now live in Ontario, I was born in Montreal, am a native English speaker, and have never used an accent when writing "Montreal" in English. From what I understand of the Wikipedia policy, what you are doing is correct (although I am a new editor here with no status to advise you on your edits). I beleive the part of the Style manual that deals with this kind of thing reads "Wikipedia prefers italics for phrases in other languages and for isolated foreign words that do not yet have common use in the English language. Use anglicized spellings for such words, or use the native spellings if they use the Latin alphabet (with or without diacritics)."
There has been a strong and vital English-speaking community in Montreal for hundreds of years and, therefore, "Montreal without the accent" would seem to me to have found common use in English by a sizable native population of Montreal. Even if Montreal is not considered to be an English word, certainly removing a humble little accent would count as anglicizing and the above quote expressly allows the removal of diacritics.
Certainly the word Montreal has had a longer and wider use in the English language than, say, the word Vietnam that is spelled "Việt Nam" in Vietnamese and has a Wikipedia article under the anglicized name. Cheers CWPappas 06:15, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Dagwoods Sauce, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Hi. Although Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion discussions are just that, and not votes, it is generally unacceptable to !vote twice as you did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2008 NHL Quarterfinals Riot, Montreal. If you would like to add to your rational, you can just add to your previous statement. Alternativly, you can add your comments as a "Comment". If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. Please stop adding unreferenced controversial biographical content to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Lindsay Lohan. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Speedy deletion of Cold War 2

  • Do not delete - The concept of a 'Cold War 2' has become a strong possibility in recent years. One only has to look at Russia's war against Georgia in the summer of 2008, the political instability in the Ukraine, the recognition of South Ossetian independence as well as the independence of Abkhazia of Russia and Nicaragua and lastly the eastward expansion of NATO, including the possibility of inviting Georgia and Ukraine.Habs4ever (talk) 05:10, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
