Hi - Sorry I didn't see your message, and you posted it 28 days ago - I've been working on that discography and never thought to look at the discussion page. I only saw your note when I went to put the Soviet Union template up. Ooops. Anyway, thank you so much for the information - fascinating. Those 78s are around - mostly on Ebay in the US - but what's on offer is pot luck. When I started researching the Ensemble a month or two ago, I was only interested in one or two glamorous soloists, and hadn't realised what geniuses Alexander and Boris Alexandrov were. I've recently got hold of a copy of a recording of Alexander Alexandrov's Svyaschennaya Voyna, composed and recorded in June 1941; written on the day Germany invaded Russia. That recording is quite shocking: stark; very modern, very powerful. He knew what he was doing. No recording of it since has been quite like that. It's the Eastern Front CD that's listed in the discography. Anyway, I'll put your information in the article, and thank you so much for letting us know. You have quite a nice little piece of history there! Cheers, and my apologies for the belated reply. --Storye book (talk) 19:50, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
