A tag has been placed on Hargeisa Canadian Medical Center, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 02:19, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi there! I'm sorry if I upset you. That was not my intention. It's just that on Wikipedia, we have policies that require editors to try and create neutral articles, based on reliable sources. Those sources must also preferably be in English since this is English Wikipedia and since that is the only way that those sources would then be verifiable (please see WP:NONENG). However, there is only one source in the article, and it's in Somali, a language which few Wiki readers understand. I also notice that you referred to the article as "my page" in reference to yourself and asked that I stop editing it ("Please stop editing my page"). This is problematic because Wikipedia pages belong to no one; anyone with (and often even without) an account can theoretically contribute. It was in this collaborative spirit that the website's inventor, one Jimbo Wales, created Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia. I also notice that you indicate that you are the actual owner of the clinic in question. While I of course commend you on your good medical work there, please understand that on Wikipedia we also have a policy that guards against possible conflict of interest edits, and this particular situation unfortunately appears to fall under that rubric (please refer to WP:COI for more). Note that I have not reverted your edits as you seem to be quite vested in the article. I have instead directed your concerns to an admin that oversees the Horn of Africa articles to have a look at. - To second Middayexpress comment you don't own the page, see WP:OWN, so you can't tell others what to include or not include. Material should be discussed on the Talk:Hargeisa Canadian Medical Center page. The article really needs some more references. As Middayexpress points out the only one is in Somali and for the general reader it is not possible to tell if the material is on that page. Are there any references available in English or French? Even an Italian reference would be useful. I found this but our small library does not contain a copy. One last thing, your username, which is the initials of the hospital, that you own. Under Wikipedia:Username policy#Company/group names it is suggested that you should pick a new user name. If you do you should also make a comment on Talk:Hargeisa Canadian Medical Center that you are the owner of the centre and have a WP:COI. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 06:39, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- You don't have to stop editing the page. Just acknowledge the COI on the talk page and if you are unsure of something ask about it there. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 12:27, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with what CambridgeBayWeather says above. However, please note that the company Books LLC linked to above is a Wikipedia mirror [1]. That is, it uses automatically generated Wikipedia content to produce books, so it is not a reliable source for this website's purposes. Just so it's clear, I'm also not asking that you refrain from editing the article; I'm simply requesting that, per the Wikipedia policies cited above, it be edited in a neutral, collaborative environment, with reliable, English language sources by preference. Since you indicate that you are the owner or are at least in some way connected with the clinic, all you have to do is produce published materials (preferably in English) on the clinic, such as press articles, releases, etc.. Those references can then be used to flesh out the HCMC article; I would be happy to assist you in this. We can then later discuss how best to neutrally describe the clinic's location.
