Bot down?

[edit]

Doesn't seem to be removing blocked users from AIV at the moment. Best, SpencerT•C 21:18, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Spencer it's back to life. Mdann52 (talk) 21:59, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Purpose section

[edit]

I think the purpose section of the user page was copied from the old bot, but there's a couple of things that bugged me then that still bug me now:

  • Clerking at WP:UAA is not mentioned, despite being the only bot responsible for doing so.
  • It states Multiple redundant bots are used to ensure that WP:AIV is always properly serviced. – This isn't true, unless we've got someone who has set up a backup recently since this bot was launched. When JamesR's bot was blocked following his passing the removals were all done manually until this bot got up and running.

So, in short, I'm proposing that the clerking at WP:UAA be mentioned and asking for clarification on whether there is actually multiple bots for WP:AIV now. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:46, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Hey man im josh: Done as suggested :) Any more changes, feel free to let me know! Mdann52 (talk) 16:48, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bot down?

[edit]

Last bot edit was 09:51, 12 September 2024 (UTC), people have been manually removing reports since then. – 2804:F1...0D:400D (talk) 16:00, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be working now, hm. – 2804:F1...BE:7757 (talk) 19:44, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Spacing

[edit]

This is arguably a very minor issue, but the bot sometimes leaves blank lines when archiving AIV reports, like this. ⇌ Jake Wartenberg 15:56, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Down Again

[edit]

Hasn't cleared reports from AIV for a couple hours. ⇌ Jake Wartenberg 21:18, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Error report

[edit]

Not sure why the bot removed my comment on a different report when it removed a blocked user? SpencerT•C 05:20, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect deletion by bot

[edit]

Could the owner of this bot please review two deletions the bot made today at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism at 15:45 and 16:01 -- in each case, the bot removed a report I submitted, aparently because I _mentioned_ in my submission the name of an editor that had previously been banned. However, my submission was about a _different_ user. The bot needs to understand the difference, to avoid spurious removals. Thank you. Dmoore5556 (talk) 21:05, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dmoore5556 if you link the user (IE {{noping|example}}) rather than using the vandal template, then it handles it as you expect. Using the vandal template will trigger the bot to archive it.
This is a "feature" from the original version of the bot I've kept, partially because it's surprisingly hard to work out which user is being reported, or even accurately work out which templates are on the same line in the current codebase. It's one on the "things to improve" list, but there's a lot on there currently! Mdann52 (talk) 21:15, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you for the quick reply and clarification. I sort of ended up there by using "user" instead of "vandal" a few minutes ago. Thank you. Dmoore5556 (talk) 21:17, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
