thanks for the notable residents
Hey, I've been seeing the notable residents links that you've been adding to the Vermont town pages and they're great. You might want to peek into WikiProject Vermont if you ever run out of Vermont tasks. We're always looking for people to help flesh out other articles about the state. bellows falls is in rockingham, who knew?
I did some more digging on authoritative sites like the Center for Rural Studies and Bellows Falls is a village, a big village, that is a part of the town of Rockingham. I responded on my talk page also but wanted to make sure you got the message. I learn something new every day! Jessamyn 18:26, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 04:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Charles Manley Smith
I created a page for Charles Manley Smith and updated the Vt. Governors info box. To change the infobox template, just go to Template:VTGovernors. Thanks for your help with Vermont sites! A lot more work needs to be done with the VT politicians.
More Vermont Vandalism
I notice that you have been watching Vermont town articles for vandalism and (partly) corrected vandalism to the Ripton, Vermont article a few minutes ago. user:Hirenon Krubi has been vandalising a number of Vermont articles and is a sockpuppet of user:Janx Jrotum who has already been blocked for identical types of vandalism, often to the same articles. Please block this new account as well, thanks.
Note: This person is messing up the statistics in the town articles, something that could be subtle and difficult to catch if he/she keeps it up under new usernames.
I have reverted his/her latest handiwork.Cbvt 00:37, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the kind words. In looking at the edits by this person under the Janx Jrotum alias, it appears that they have also been doing this to New Hampshire and Pennsylvania town articles as well, so the damage could be more widespread than just Vermont. I worry that if they create new accounts and then attack different articles (ones that aren't being watched, possibly ones regarding other states), it could go undetected. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do about this except raise the alarm. Perhaps an IP block may be needed.Cbvt 05:05, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Project Vermont
Hey, H0n0r, funnily enough I didnt notice that you had been trying to update that page in a similar way until I had finished. I've been hoping to attract some extra help by freshening up the page, infoboxes etc. I dont know if you noticed but there are some new userboxes for your userpage too (if you are into that kind of thing) - the one for WP:vermont will add you into a category of WP vermont members too. Anyhow, thanks for the kind words Mickmaguire 17:49, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Reply to your message about radio station classes
Hi there. Yes, in fact, the radio station classes are visible on the FCC's Internet database. Here is the link for the FM stations; you can type in the call letters and the state from which the station is broadcasting, and you can receive a bunch of info such as class, frequency, as well as effective radiated power (ERP). Charlestown, NH & the VT town infobox
- Ouch! that took some fixing! :O) I altered the template to cope. Mickmaguire 21:01, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I sorted it out for you. I had changed the temlate a bit, and you needed the new fields to indicate that the eastern towns were not in VT. I also had to fix a bug in the other neighboring towns to get it to show up. I woudl question whether you shoudl include Cavendish at all though as it doesn't share borders with Springfield (at least it looks that way on our map). I would be tempted to leave the other_neighboring_towns field empty (I did not remove it - your call). Anyway, take a look and see what you think. I'm from Bedford, England - Moved here in 2001 a little way from worcestershire, but I have been there quite a few times (lovely area of the country). Mmm blackcurrants, I love 'em in jam :O) thanks for the offer! Mickmaguire 12:46, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

thank you
Thanks for the photo of Stone's Columbus Circle building in NYC. It is a bit hard to see exactly what they're doing, but it is obvious already that it will look nothing like originally intended. In my opinion, I find it very ironic that a so-called art organization is altering a very important building in the history of architecture. In revenge, perhaps, an architect should repaint the Mona Lisa with a frown, and claim the masterpiece needed to be updated. :)
Thanks again for the pic. If you are in the city and nearby in the future, get another pic. Better yet, why can't a New Yorker get one? Prerhaps they are too embarrassed.

License tagging for Image:BronxLibrary.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:BronxLibrary.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:05, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your note with the copyright tag on this image - I'm not entirely sure what to change the tag to. I would love some advice as you seem experienced in this area. Thanks H0n0r 05:20, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I can't help you since I normally don't deal with images. My guess would be a fair use tag with some sort of rational. —Dispenser 17:03, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Grace Marufu Mugabe
Done. Title-wise, I think it's best that she's at Grace Mugabe, as that certainly appears to be her most common name. Furthermore, that was the only page with a history, which would suggest that people try to find her by searching "Grace Mugabe". I've made a redirect to G. Mugabe from Grace Marufu Mugabe, so hopefully that should be okay. Any thoughts? Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 21:22, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks, fixed. Not really sure why it was protected in the first place; it was suffering from no vandalism whatsoever, :) Oh well. No problem; happy to help. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 21:34, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Should be. There are some pretty firm sources there (BBC, Daily Telegraph and the Independent, for example). Although, the quicker you finish the article, the better. :D Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 21:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:50thStreetAlice.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:50thStreetAlice.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk) 19:37, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Just to let you know that I recently copied the above image that you uploaded to Wikipedia over to WikiMedia Commons, the Wikimedia central media repository for all free media. The image was either individually tagged or was in a category tagged with the {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} template. Your image is now available to all Wikimedia projects at the following location: Commons:File:Kimberly Oliver 2006 Teacher of the year.jpg. During the move I changed the name of the image to better reflect Naming Conventions policy, duplicate file name and/or Commons naming restrictions. Any links to the image has been updated to reflect the new name as it exists now on Commons. The original version of the image uploaded to Wikipedia has been tagged with WP:CSD#F8. Cheers! --Captain-tucker (talk) 00:49, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
NowCommons: File:KimOliver TeacheroftheYear.jpg
File:KimOliver TeacheroftheYear.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Kimberly Oliver 2006 Teacher of the year.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Kimberly Oliver 2006 Teacher of the year.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 00:52, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

H0n0r, I definitely didn't add the "scumbag" portion of the article... I just added the "citation needed" tag to bring it to an editor's attention. I should've just cleaned it myself... and I really need to make my own login. Apparently someone else at this IP address vandalized a few pages in '07. Thanks again for keeping me posted!

State senators etc.
There's nothing wrong with adding notable residents to any community, and per WP:POLITICIAN, all members of state legislatures and high-up judges are notable, whether or not they have an article yet. Nyttend (talk) 13:25, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
- The same goes for people like treasurers, secretaries of state, etc. Per your comment, I've fixed Willard's name; I wasn't the one who added these people, so it was someone else's error. Thanks for the heads up! Nyttend (talk) 13:33, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:CamelsHumpSummitVegetation.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:CamelsHumpSummitVegetation.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MGA73 (talk) 21:07, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
