You're Welcome!

Hiya! Sorry for the belated reply. ^^;;; I edited some parts of the article on Floral Magician MaryBell a while ago. The show was aired by Spacetoon, which has Arabic dubs of many anime and shows in most Arab countries. If you'd like to know anything else, let me know.

Great job

Hi there, u r doing a great job in Malayalam Script aricle.......

ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 12:10, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! you can help too~—Gyopi (talk) 08:03, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Do u hav any FA ideas for Malayalam script??

ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 16:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but Malayalam script still has a long way to go. History, Ligatures (cons-vowel ligatures not covered at all), Ligatures+vowel sign, more about chillu, some clean ups etc etc. and I'd like to add sample words too. Also a pic that shows Malayalam actually used... I prepared this one a while ago (the best thing I could find so far)
Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy Trimmed.jpg
Don't you have any better photos? I'd like to insert a photo like in Tamil script.
Gyopi (talk) 17:20, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

I meant that we could give it for peer review, so that we can get more suggestions on how to improve the article to FA status....Your photo looks good, If u give me some time, I can provide you some more...:-)Any way, keep up your good work,Wikipedia needs more editors like u......

ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 02:00, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

We can ask peer review when the article becomes better. Currently there are many obvious things to do anyway, even without being suggested. About photo, please make sure it will be a neutral "harmless" one. Because it's a bad idea to use (for example) a radical political slogan as a sample text :)—Gyopi (talk) 08:54, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Ok...done!!!!! :-)))) ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 12:17, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Wait, what do you mean 'done'? I said it's still too early to get the peer review. The article was really simple before, and it was only yesterday or so that I started the history section. I have my life and I can spend only a short time a day for this. And I'm a slow writer. As you can see, I usually write only a few sentences a day. At the current pace, unless someone who is good and fast at writing helps, I'd need at least another month or two even if everything goes ideally.—Gyopi (talk) 12:57, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh my god!!!!I told about the photos.....I will upload it soon.....ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 14:00, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh OK :) Please upload them. There's no reason to hurry anyway.—Gyopi (talk) 07:36, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I just made a place holder for the intro photo. [1] If something better is ready please replace this one.—Gyopi (talk) 10:28, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi a request

the german version of wikipedia http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulu_%28Sprache%29 has better info especially about the morphology and phonetics tulu language.but i can't seem to get to align the boxes properly on the english wikipedia for tulu language..could you add that info on english version of tulu language. kindly thank you.Linguisticgeek (talk) 15:20, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Okay I'll look into it when I have time. Maybe tomorrow or next day. — Gyopi (talk) 08:04, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the help on the vowel signsLinguisticgeek (talk) 16:05, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Photos ready

Hi...the photos are ready...I hav taken 3 photos viz, that of a flex board in Malayalam describing about Coconut cultivation, a malayalam medical related poster photo and a newspaper front page view photo....Its completely malayalam...Which one should i upload???Your opinion is important here bcos u call he shots...!!!!!

ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 10:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, well if you're ok to share them and you're not too busy, I think you can upload all of them to [2]. Even if we don't use some of them, someone else might be interested in those photos in the future. Besides if we can see the actual things, it'll be easier to decide which one is the best for the article. Perhaps, though, there may be a copyright problem if we copy a newspaper because the texts are written by someone else.—Gyopi (talk) 10:51, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Ok...as u wish...I will upload the photo tomorrow....You can choose from the photos....And Keep up the good work!!!!! :-)ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 13:52, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Iam trying to compress that image, so that my uploading is faster...!!!!I have a really slow connection...It seems that i must upload this one through some Internet cafe.....Rest assured...!!!!!

ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 08:38, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Actually, the photo is 2.7 MB big....Iam trying to compress it as much as 600KB so that it uploads fast.....By resizing it, its loosing its clarity.....If possible, i will upload the whole image from some net cafe.....Do u really want it in urgent??? ARUNKUMAR P.RTalk 15:52, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi...The photos r ready to be uploaded...I have compressed the image without too much lose of clarity, using MS powertools (photo resizer)....Once i upload them, i will make a gallery on ur talk page so that u can choose which one u want... :-D..

tulu script

hi,i think the the first test tulu was perfect.i have added it up there.could you a make a another one in tulu script(if you have time then only) which reads Tulu lipi so you can put it up on tulu script page.wikipedia needs editors like you.i really appreciate your efforts madam.and one more thing you say you are not indian, but you seem like an asian if i am not wrong.anyways i again appreciate your effortsLinguisticgeek (talk) 06:16, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Tuḷu lipi
Thanks but honestly they are just quick tests by guessing; I don't even have one real sample. Feel free to tell me if anything looks wrong.—Gyopi (talk) 07:53, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

it is perfect, your guesses are good thanksLinguisticgeek (talk) 08:43, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

I was just lucky. Glad it helped :)—Gyopi (talk) 09:29, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

what else do you think it is required to take tulu language and malayalam language article to FA status.are more sections required.Linguisticgeek (talk) 09:54, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

That's a hard question. I don't think I can answer. Obviously, just being big or having many sections would not be enough. I'd say, the FA status or anything is not a goal, just a side effect which may or may not happen when the article is becoming more and more informative, interesting, helpful, compact, neutral and well-balanced. Perhaps, the best thing is just modestly keep doing what you think is best without attachment to the outcome. Honestly I'm not in any position to say something like this... I'm just someone playing here without any serious intent. —Gyopi (talk) 11:00, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

0k thanks because even i didn't know whats the process.yes even i agree wikipedia is a place for providing accurate information.one more thing how do you make those images of tulu script or for that matter any script.do you write them down and click the photo or use some software.(i apologise if i am bothering you with too many questions)Linguisticgeek (talk) 11:07, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm on Windows and I simply did copy-and-paste from the PDF file of Unicode proposal (letters are not copyrighted so there shouldn't be any problem), using [PrintScreen] and mspaint. Some parts were manually retouched pixel by pixel, but that was done also on mspaint using a normal mouse. Like, you can first copy TA, then copy the vowel sign U and attach it to the first TA to make TU, and so on.—Gyopi (talk) 11:50, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
PS. The letter image like was just a screen shot of a glyph. The font used was written in the page ([3]) in this case RaghuMalayalam font.—Gyopi (talk) 11:55, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

updated the new one they are better thanksLinguisticgeek (talk) 11:35, 9 November 2009 (UTC) my image specimen of tulu script is correct it is SA and thats how it show be.i am not sure about kannada version you gave i just copy pasted it from the talk page,so the kannda script is wrong tulu script is correct.Linguisticgeek (talk) 12:24, 10 November 2009 (UTC) as far as tulu pronounciation is concerned it should be ba not bha.base is tuluisation of original sanskrit word Bhasha.tulu word is corrupted version of it.Tulu script version is correct kannada script doubtful as i believe the word on kannada wiki is kannada corruption of sanskrit not tulu.tulu script is perfectLinguisticgeek (talk) 12:31, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

hi i believe there are a few dictionaries written by upadhyaya ,panniyadi and kekunaya,i am not sure but read this news article [4].it says the new tulu lexicon which is by far the best dictionary available on tulu will be put up on the net before the World Tulu convention which will held on december 10 this year so lets wait.this dictionary is the best one available.manner's work 0f 1886 is incomplete.i agree bhashe and base both can be used but base is how it is pronounced in tulu as far as my knowledge goesLinguisticgeek (talk) 06:41, 11 November 2009 (UTC) Shouldn't we create an article on Tulu-Malayalam script what say.i don't think either tulu or malayalam directly evovled from grantha what sayLinguisticgeek (talk) 10:12, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

hey you did not reply about the Tulu-malayalam script article should we create it or not.if you say yes than i will start collecting the material what say!Linguisticgeek (talk) 11:26, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

about the bhashe base thing the base one is perfect you even created a footnote in the article didn't you.so what more should i say it is base and correct and that image name bhashe is wrong it should be base.i typed it by error.if you say no then i would not go ahead with a separate article on Tulu Malayalam one more query in the parent system for tulu and malayalam both are shown directly descending from grantha shouldn't it be more like grantha tulu-malayalam and then tulu or malyalam or should we insert the rod script instead of tulu-malyalam as a precursor for both scripts.Linguisticgeek (talk) 11:56, 11 November 2009 (UTC) .

I think Gyopi holds a point....This much heard of Tulu-Malayalam script is only a hypothesis, which is at its infant stage. Any article on that topic now may spark controversies....But if you get enough proof, u r welcome to create one.

AruNKumaRTalK 12:21, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

it like a in play ([e]) ba say.it is the correct script which i gave don't worry.i know both tulu and malayalam, malayalam natively and tulu intermediately.(not an expert in tulu but good working knowledge)so trust meLinguisticgeek (talk) 09:04, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

So, do you think the difference between /e/ and /ɛ/, stated in de:Tulu_(Sprache)#Sprachliche_Charakteristika, is not really important? German editors even say that it's contrastive as in, batte “he came” and battɛ “I came”. If it's the e-sound like 'a' in 'say', it's /e/ but Männer's dictionary has an accent mark on 'e' (that is, he wrote like bāsé) suggesting this 'e' is a wide ɛ. This distinction between /e/ and /ɛ/ is no more important today?—Gyopi (talk) 3:31 pm, Today (UTC+5.5)

the german wiki is correct about difference between /e/ and /ɛ/.batte “he came” and battɛ “I came” are said by two different persons hence the difference.Manner's dictionary as far as my knowlegde goes is incomplete because his dictionary's main focus is on the brahmin dialect(tulu people at that time and even today are very orthodox hindus,a missionary was viewed with suspiscion at that time and never entertained so his work was hampered,it is believed manner's main reason for making a tulu dictionary was to win converts, the first converts missionaries sought after were the hindu priest(brahmins)(hence he befriended some hindu brahmin monks from udupi who taught him some tulu he wasn't an expert just a beginner. manner's work is largely incomplete lets wait for the online tulu lexicon,it states which word is from which dialect and it is the best dictionary available. manners work cannot be trusted for pronounciations) bāsé, bhashe, bhasha are all used by various dialects but the most preferred dialect which is the common dialect which i have knowledge of pronounces language in the way i stated.the common tulu is the most preferred form of tulu which is used by the majority and even used by non natives in tulu nadu.so common tulu pronounciation is one we should give preference.while publicly speaking tulu lets say election rallies the aspiring canditate will speak in this dialect alone.the brahmin dialect has slight influence of sanskrit over it and anways the basay is a sanskrit loan from bhashaLinguisticgeek (talk) 10:31, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

This is for LG... Hi...If u r right now in K'taka, presicely Udupi, U may want to pay a visit to Govinda Pai Samshodhana Kendra.I myself was a frequent visitor there until a few months back..You can get to know everything about Tulu and Tulu script...I myself saw the original Tulu script manuscripts...Great place to hang out too...:-)

AruNKumaRTalK 10:38, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

ya thats what i precisely meant gyopi and arunkumar you are right udupi is the place where there is hell lot of info you can collect about tulu not just the Govinda Rai Samshoshana Kendra but you can even go to the udupi shree krishna temple and it's eight monastries old temple walls there are full of writing in tulu script.the monks there still know to write the script.even the tulu lexicon was releleased by Govinda Rai Samshoshana Kendra.another inortant person who knows about tulu script is venkataraja punichchtaya the current president of Kerala tulu academy.he is the one who found the original manuscripts of Tulu Mahabharato.it is for this reason udupi is called the cutural capital of Tulu Nadu.Linguisticgeek (talk) 10:48, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

U may also want to meet Padhmanabha Kekkunaya...A tulu script researcher, who has published many papers on Tulu and Beary bashe......His paper on beary bashe was used by me to expand the article Beary bashe...

AruNKumaRTalK 10:59, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Can anyone get photos of real samples of Tulu script? Directly or indirectly? ethnologue says 'Tulu script, philosophical texts and religious verses are sometimes written in this script.' so there should be actual samples somewhere...—Gyopi (talk) 11:05, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

As far as i know, the tulu manuscripts at Govinda pai samshodhana kendra is not allowed to be photographed by an external person other than the officials of the kendra...The best thing will be to ask the permission with the kendra to upload any of their photos....OR someone daring must break into the kendra...... AruNKumaRTalK 11:11, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Just kidding....:-D AruNKumaRTalK 11:12, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

take a look at this link [5].the photos show the tulu manuscripts of tulu mahabharato being studied by Bannanje Govindacharya a vedic scholar connected to the udupi monastries.if posses some tulu script.if we can contact the person who uploaded the image than we might get the manuscriptsLinguisticgeek (talk) 11:18, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Tuluva

Hi Gyopi,

But doesn't the 1997 tuluva ethnic report seem outdated??

AruNKumaRTalK 11:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Anyway, now their populaion must have risen, (but cannot believe it must have risen upto 5 million??).It must be noted that the fertility rate and population increase rate of Tuluvas are very small compared to rest of India, just like the Malayalis.Should check out the 2001 census and then confirm...

Also I have got some Palmyra written Malayalam inscriptions which looks pretty old.I cannot understand some letters of the written script.Do u want a photo of that??

AruNKumaRTalK 00:47, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
